Candy House
I made this digital artwork as my vision of the Candy House. I love the famous story Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm, published in 1812 as part of Grimms' Fairy Tales.
I admired Grimms' Fairy Tales when I was young. I loved reading the stories and also enjoyed checking the illustrations. Even now, I remain fascinated by the stories and the series.
In the story of Hansel and Gretel, the little boy and girl are lost in the forest. They discover a house made of candy, complete with sugar windows. Of course, they can't resist and start eating it.
I still remember the illustration of the pretty Candy House and the scary witch. The mix of spooky energy and beautiful elements is my favorite motif for artwork. For example, Kaidan (Kwaidan) stories perfectly match my taste for Japanese spooky themes. Similarly, Tim Burton's films are excellent examples of my Western-style spooky aesthetic.
When I went to a local supermarket, I saw a Candy House kit for Christmas kids' entertainment. As soon as I saw the package, I decided to create my version of the Candy House digitally.
On the walls of my creepy Candy House, you'll find donuts, ice cream, candies, and a lollipop. I carefully selected these toppings to attract Hansel and Gretel.
Additionally, the outside of the Candy House features candy canes, lollipops, jelly, jelly beans, macarons, and pumpkins. This is a great attraction for Hansel and Gretel, too.
The walls of my Candy House were created with creamy chocolate and mint chocolate topped with whipped cream. The window frames are made of Pocky. Do you know Pocky? It’s a sweet Japanese snack produced by Ezaki Glico. Pocky is like pretzel sticks coated with chocolate. The door was made of Kit Kat.
The background is intentionally creepy, so you’d never want to get lost in this kind of forest, right? But if you were lost and stumbled upon this Candy House, what would you do? Could you resist eating it if you were very hungry? I don’t think I could.
If you were the pastry chef, what kinds of sweets would you add to the walls of this Candy House? Don't worry! The children won't come to any harm in this Candy House.

お菓子の家
お菓子の家のデジタルアートを作りました。１８１２年に出版されたグリム童話（子供と家庭のメルヒェン集）のヘンゼルとグレーテルの話が私は大好きです。
小さな頃、グリム童話に惹きつけられました。物語を読むのはもちろん、イラストを眺めるのも大好きでした。今でも相変わらずグリム童話の面白さに惹かれます。
ヘンゼルとグレーテルは、森の中で迷子になってしまいます。すると、飴や砂糖菓子でできた家を見つけます。もちろん、２人は我慢できずに食べてしまいます。
子供の頃に見た、かわいらしいお菓子の家とおそろしい魔女のイラストを今でも思い出します。美しいものと不気味なものを融合したアートが私の好みです。例えば、日本の怪談アートとか、西洋風であればティム・バートンの映像の感じが好きです。
地元のスーパーに買い物に出かけたとき、このクリスマス用の子供のお菓子の家キットを見かけました。このパッケージを見てすぐにデジタルのお菓子の家をデザインしたくなりました。
私が作ったお菓子の家の壁には、ドーナッツ、アイスクリーム、あめとペロペロキャンディーがくっついています。ヘンゼルとグレーテルを誘惑するため、慎重にお菓子をセレクトしました。
さらに、お菓子の家の外にはキャンディーケーン、ペロペロキャンディー、ゼリー、ジェリービーンズ、マカロンとかぼちゃを設置しました。これらもまたヘンゼルとグレーテルを魅了するには欠かせないアイテムです。
お菓子の家の外壁はクリームチョコレートとミントチョコレートでできていて、生クリームのトッピングが施されています。窓枠はポッキーでできています。ドアはキットカットでできています。
背景の森もかなりおどろおどろしいです。こんなところで迷子にはなりたくないですよね。でも、もしも森の中で迷子になってこんなお菓子の家を見つけたら、あなたならどうしますか。腹ペコでも食べずに我慢できますか？おそらく、私は食べてしまうと思います。
