Finally Introducing Myself To Hive πŸ™ Dad, Cancer Survivor, Crypto-Curious

Hello everyone on the Hive blockchain. My name is Matt, and I am finally getting around to making my introduction after much sustained encouragement from my friend @justinparke.

I'm a 39 years Dad from Evansville, Indiana, in the United States, and also a brain cancer survivor. In my free time I like to take walks in the morning, and pretty much anything outdoors. I help my sister with babysitting quite often because I am unable to work due to my disability.

On Hive I hope to make some new friends from around the world, find some interesting content from other Hivers, and share a little about myself. I have free time during the day due to my disability, and I hope to use this time constructively on Hive.

I don't know what I will post about yet, but I hope to get inspiration from other authors. @justinparke told me about #WednesdayWalk, and said this may be a good place to start my blogging content.

I already mentioned I like to take walks, so I hope to share these adventures with you all through text and photos. I am also on Facebook if any of you want to follow me there, and this is still the platform I feel most comfortable on until I get the hang of Hive.

Hey @mattwilderman welcome in this platform and it was sad to know that you are surviving from cancer,,but we all are here to support your I'm sure that you will get well soon πŸ€—β£οΈ

Such a bummer, the learning curve intimidated him too much and he decided not to follow through with this Hive journey. I couldn't even get him to log in and respond to all of your comments. He still believes crypto is fake, but yet gladly spends time on FB all day without earning a cent in the process. I still hope there is a chance he'll come around one day.

Welcome to hive Master Beast. I am sure you make a lot of money out of it. Have a good day.

Welcome to Hive I am sure you will love it here

I host the Wednesday walks and enjoy seeing people walk from all over the world each Wednesday
I have no rules the walk can be anywhere any length any day I just suggest to do the Wednesday walk post on a Wednesday if that suits

Have a great day

Thanks for stopping by my friend, sorry Matt did not respond to his comments, he gave up on Hive before giving it a real chance. I don't think he really gave this platform a shot, but I remain hopeful he'll have a change of heart one day.

You did finally did it, my first hometown friend to post on Hive. Put all your FB energy here and you won't be let down. Just use this place as a journal for your thoughts and life, but don't forget to engage with other Hivers too. Don't forget to follow @sreypov and the @kidsisters too.

Hi Matt, welcome to the Hive! I happy to see you here and I hope to see you soon in Indiana. 😊

Sad to say my friend gave up on Hive just as soon as he started. I couldn't even get him to log in a second time to respond to his comments. Shame is he wastes a lot of time on other social media outlets, keeps a daily journal, is looking for friends, and has plenty of freetime due to his disability.

Perhaps us Hivers can motivate him to truly give this platform a chance. I'll keep trying via his fb page at https://www.facebook.com/matt.wilderman.39.

I am sorry to hear he hasn't returned...but give him time. We all have our own path to walk in. Sometimes, when one views as another wasting time or not doing something that aligns with what we see, it doesn't necessarily mean it isn't right for him. As long as he is getting something positive & uplifting from what he is doing now, that is what matters the most. Now, of course, I say this with the limited information I know, but since I sense energy pretty well, this is what I am led to think...

He does have support here when he needs it. I will check him out on FB to see if maybe we can offer support as well. Thank you for being a friend to him when he needs it the most. πŸ’š

First off, welcome to hive. It's an incredibly unique social media experience so I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. In regards to post ideas.. Well you live in Indiana. I've spent time around the Ft. Wayne area and Huntington. If you like being outdoors there's a number of wild plants, and fungi that have edible/medicinal uses in your region of the country. You could blog about those topics while you learn on your walks. We have a great community here called Natural Medicine which is awesome, and loads of great folks who will support your content. Then there's photography communities and various others. Best of luck, and always feel free to shout if you need a hand or have any questions. :)

Shame I think my friend already gave up, at least he had a little bit of Hive Keychain trouble, got frustrated, and apparently hasn't logged in since. I kept his keys as a safety backup, so I can only he'll want to log back in some day. When and if he does, I'll help him with any questions he may have. Frustrating that he came so close and the learning curve overwhelmed him.

I have had similar issues in getting friends and family to stick it here. It's sorta funny that when you mention the plus sides of engaging here you will get interest. But once it becomes something that requires understanding a new form of ease of access then they go straight off it. Once one understands it all it is rather easy. But hose few extra key strokes sometimes seem like a bridge to far for those who are accustomed to easy sign up, log in, and content submission formats. A shame. Well at least you got him to dip a toe in so that's a plus. Out of the dozens I've introduced to this space only one (my cousin) still posts on here from time to time. You never know, your friend may circle back when spare time and a more valuable hive token meet at the same place and time.
