OCD Community Incubation Program Finalized

Hey everyone. It's been a while since we initially announced this program and even though we have picked up over 10 communities and supported them with curation it's time to empower them even more and allow for an application process for new unique niche communities. Before I get started on all the changes and additions I wanted to take the time to talk about communities in general. If you're an avid hiver who already knows everything feel free to skip to the next step.

Communities are a great tool and we as a curation project are happy to see them exist. When we launched the OCD community it made the life very easy for us because we were able to focus on the community and not miss a single post from curation. Our curators were still focusing on posts outside of communities but a few with me included were able to focus mostly on the OCD community and while curating what you wanted to see more of and ignoring or muting things you didn't want to see it improved the quality of content greatly and very quick. After discussing things with some people we started to realize that having general "all goes" communities such as OCD was not the best way forward to empower the platform, if subcommunities came to life it would've made it possible but it would have instead formed diverse big accounts or curation projects to do the same thing just in different places and that would have not been great for the general quality of the platform and stake being spread out all over the place. Instead we kind of deserted the OCD community and started focusing curation onto more unique communities focused on certain subjects. We are happy to see how much some of those have grown since then and are hopeful that we will see many more grow the same way over time. Having a diverse selection of different communities on the leaderboards will make the life of newcomers much easier to join the ones they are interested in and at the same time not be missed on their first posts because the curators and community owners and mods will be focused on checking each and every post that goes through their community. We are very excited to see how this will play out with an appreciating value of hive and an increasing inflow of new users and we want the communities to be ready to welcome them and give them attention.

Community Application Process

If you have a great idea of a unique new community you'd like to start or have started, you can contact us through our Discord and talk to us about it. There are a couple things we'd want you to do before, though.

First off, please check that the community you want to run doesn't already exist in a similar fashion. For instance there already is OnChainArt and SketchBook so another community for art may not be the best one to spend time and effort on but depending on the niche and interest of that niche of art you may be able to convince us to assist you - for example the newly formed PixelArt community we're going to support as that was very active in the past.

Secondly, we'd really appreciate it if you didn't just create a new community account and instantly ask us for support. If you have a great idea please write an introduction post to the community and come to us with that and we will gladly give it some visibility through reblogs and votes to see the reaction of the userbase before we make a decision. What we mean by this is that we'd want you to put in some work before you spend time asking for support or delegations.

Empowering the communities

We've thought long and hard about the best way to empower each community we want to support and at the same time make it possible for any other stakeholder to do the same. After discussing things with the other OCD curators of the best way forward we've come up with this solution, it requires a few words of the thought process before we tell you what that solution is.

One thing that Hivemind is lacking right now is the ability to set beneficiaries on their community to reward their curators and moderators. We realize this is a touchy subject but we believe that incentivizing curators and moderators to do a good job at keeping their community clean and curating well will turn them into much better communities than without. Reddit for instance announced their ERC-20 token which will reward 20% to moderators, although we believe that is a bit much we should still try and give them a little extra motivation and incentive to do a good job with each community they run.

Here's what we suggest.

Each community either creates an account specific for that community or uses the community account (the ones that are called @hive-######) or uses the main account of the owner to:
Write compilation posts of what you've curated that day or that week (depending on activity in your community). This way we can support you with some votes and you can decide how you want to share those rewards with your team members through beneficiaries. At the same time it can empower the owners and curators to grow their stake to be more effective at curation on their own community over time.

If you used the account @hive-###### for instance you could also ask your frequent active posters if they feel like your community moderators deserve some more rewards for their time to set beneficiaries on their posts themselves. If this becomes the norm then each author would easily be able to find the accountname of each community if they want to help their favorite communities with beneficiaries, donations and/or delegations.

Anyway, let us know what you think about these suggestions, we're open to accepting whatever method the community deems to be the most fair.

On that note I'd also want to explain why we've set up different channels in our Discord for each community owner/curator to drop posts they curate and want to receive our curation + trail on. You may think, why is that necessary if we'd have the compilation posts anyway where you could track down what posts they've curated and could vote up from there.

The reason to that is that smaller communities may not have those posts every day, maybe they'll only have 10 great quality posts in a timespan of a week or 3 days and if we have to wait that long before we know what posts to boost up more they could either be too close to payout or our votes won't matter much anymore cause it won't affect trending of that community. Being able to drop posts freshly onto our channels makes it possible for them to filter out their trending better and instead can just do an after report.

Last but not least:

Delegations

We came up with a fun little way for some extra incentive for community owners, curators and moderators to be incentivized to do a great job with their communities and at the same time strive to grow them. Of course our accounts are not that big with stake but considering the amount of communities we might support in the near future it might amount to a lot over time.

From here on out we'd like to delegate to community accounts (or the owners) with HP relative to the subscriber amount of their communities that we are supporting under our incubation program. We'll be updating this monthly and you'll have the delegations as long as we are supporting your community. For instance OnChainArt has 2057 subscribers right now, that would mean 2057 HP delegation from us.

The great part about having community specific accounts that are known to belong to each community is that it will allow others to also add some delegations to their favorite communities. So you might want to consider dusting off those community account keys and start putting it to use. :)

If you've read this far, here is a list of the current communities under our program, some of you may not even know that we've already been curating in your community so feel free to get in touch with us about co-operating and where to receive delegations.

  • Hive Gaming
  • On Chain Art
  • Natural Medicine
  • Alien Art Hive
  • Lightpainters United
  • The Ink Well
  • Photography Lovers

Newly added ones:

  • Beer
  • dSound
  • Eco Train
  • Feathered Friends
  • Haveyoubeenhere
  • Vimm
  • StemSocial
  • Foodies Bee Hive
  • The Anime Realm
  • Pixel Art
  • The Manipulation Station
  • Pinmapple

Note: we reserve the right to not delegate or stop supporting your community at any time and for any reason. Also please don't try to game your subscription amount, there's an activity log :P)

Closing words

We hope you appreciate how OCD is planning on supporting new communities to grow and prosper and with them the platform to become the best it can be. We also want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years whether it's been through delegations, vote trailing or witness votes, thank you! Special thanks to: @blocktrades, @roadscape, @yabapmatt, @therealwolf and @thejohalfiles.

We will still be checking the OCD community now and then and curate there but we will strongly encourage authors to instead post onto the fitting communities instead as long as they exist.

If you have any ideas on how to improve on this even more we'd be willing to hear them out or if you have any other comments feel free to share them. :)

We have some more news in the near future we want to share with you but that will have to be for another time as this will probably already take some time to be set up properly and everyone being settled in at empowering their communities. Thanks for reading!

If you like what we do and would want to support us, we'd appreciate a witness vote on @ocd-witness. A delegation to @ocdb which returns 85% of the curation rewards daily to delegators and of course trailing our votes through hive.vote but more importantly, subscribing to the communities we're supporting and curate manually there and receive higher curation rewards from our votes maybe landing on the same posts. :)

I truly believe, this is a great initiative and not only will be helpful the writers/bloggers who are comfortable writing in their niche and are not getting enough encouragement, but would bring more users to HIVE as well.

Build-It is another community running on Hive with its DIY niche by @anonymousman1, and also curating deserving posts on daily basis. I'd suggest him to contact you on discord.

Thanks for taking this step for the better future of HIVE and its users.

I for one appreciate very much your growing support of the smaller niche communities. I would also urge you to not fully abandon your own community. There is room and a need for what i have been referring to as the Big Box store communities. I would like to see at least a minimum of 25% of your effort remain with your community. When new users come in, especially new users of the consumer type, they are going to initially look to the larger accounts to find content.

If you look at your community and the tags in there verse what is available tag wise on the All Topics trending page you will see a big difference in the variety that are available.

I guess what I am saying is that there is room for one-stop shops and for mom and pop type shops. Variety is what makes life so interesting, and anyone that has lived in a community where their one stop shops closed down they know how devastating that can be to a community once they are established.

By reading your post though I think you are on the right track, my comment is just to point out that there is room for everyone and I hope you do not abandon your own store to much or often.

On behalf of the @Haveyoubeenhere and @Pinmapple community, I'd like to say a big thanks to OCD for supporting the travel community on Hive. We're seeing more and more people posting from our community and the quality of the travel content is getting higher everyday. It's great that their effort is recognised by the wider community!

Thanks for your support!

Not much to add here just wants to say thanks for this initiative, I've been able to help a lot of the artists in the alien art community get some better rewards and visibility. I think it really helps with retention and motivates people to keep contributing 👏

absolutely. your efforts quite sufficient.

not constructive & fruitful note. yes, we are all content creators here, and making your content more visible and payable is a common problem for all of us. communities is a good way to aggregate stuff thru the dedicated intrests, a good way to make YOUR good content more visible. I really cant understand what objections one may have against the dedicated groups... jealoucy? envy? or your content is so unique that do not fit to any group and maybe nobody is intrested in it except of yourself?
@drutter, nothing personal. I just look at it this way.

If we still used the OCD community actively I'd tag you as troll by now, but just FYI OCD curators will still be focusing on posts outside of communities but empowering communities and encouraging users to post in them is nothing wrong. Without subreddits reddit would have never gotten to where it is today and they are and will be a massively great tool for more focused curation and users being able to connect better with people that share the same interests.

Truth.

Hive is a forum more or less and needs communities of like minded people to grow.

I doubt that fella rembers how hellish it was positing to the void on steemit.

very well noted, 'posting to the void on steemit' with abs no feedback is the eccence of it.

I'm not sure why posting in a community is jumping through hoops (it's very easy and takes one extra click) but personally I have found it a nice way to look at content in a specific niche, your garden looks nice by the way!

Thanks for the support you show to the hive communities, it is a great idea to open a gap for the future communities that will be coming to the platform soon. I am a member of Feathered Friends and admire the healing support of that community like all others. Thanks again for everything. Keep up the good work.

Really excited to see this take shape! Thanks for all the help and support 😊

Thank you so much for supporting the Pixelart Community <3 It's really motivating to see so many great posts and seeing them rewarded.

Also I'm really looking forward to any future niche communities that will happen thanks to this initiative. I love following all kinds of niches (especially creative and crafting ones), but I want to personally focus only on managing Pixelart community.

Cheers and good luck with everything :D

Really happy to see @Haveyoubeenhere becoming part of the list! :)

This is totally awesome! Thank you so much for this initiatives! Because you're making the communities to grow up a lot so the blockchain is increasing its value!

I have a project that I would love to show you to applicate for support or just for advises to grow up in the way that communities that are already under your support are doing right now.

I wrote on your Discord, so if you can contact me to talk about the project, I'll be waiting for your reply, my Discord user is ilazramusic#2853

Good vibes and blessing guys!

Thanks for the info AND all your hard work.
Much appreciated .
I am a member of Feathered Friends, great community.
I jump in #foodie bee hive and #amazingnature also. Again, wonderful communities.
Keep us
moving forward #ocd
👍

OCD is doing a wonderful job curating #featheredfriends! And I am so happy that you are one of our active community members!

Keep up the good work Team OCD

Really cool! I am definitely trying to grow the #lovetheclouds community even more, so I think I'll speak with you guys on discord after my vacation ;)

It is awesome to see this program evolving.

took me long enough, lol.

Oh yeah! OCD is certainly taking the lead here to grow Hive via the empowering of the communitiesw and we think that this is a slendid and innovative idea.
All of the best to your efforts!

Woo hoo woooooo hoooo, newly added Vimm and STEMsocial. I am so happy to see that.

Besides that, great initiative! We will talk soon. Buahahaha

What a great initiative !

First I would like to thank @ocd and @Acidyo for this great opportunity 😃 !

I would like to ask for support for our HODL Community. @hodlcommunity

We are not even 3 months old and 415 subscribers with some great writers. We are focused on supporting Crypto Content Creators and recently we brought Hundreds of non-hivers to our interface as we are VERY active on Twitter where we share our writers' posts.

I would love to discuss more any kind of possible curation program / help.

Thank you !

OCD has unfortunately had the rule of not supporting crypto related content for the biased nature of authors and holdings/sponsorships/etc.

I understand even if we are disappointed as we try to have a positive impact on this Hive ecosystem as our last monthly help to good content creators from emerging economies shows:
🎉 HODL Community Monthly Update & 40 HBD in Giveaways !.

I wish you to find great communities and keep us updated 😄

I've dropped a shout at the discord channel, but let me develop the request here a bit more. I look at the Hive from the same point of view, the place will benefit greatly if the content will go to the dedicated communities instead of better-curating-groups (which is simply unreadable & waste). Encouraging hiveans to do blogs in dedicated groups is a good, right thing to do, and some delegation for better curating surely would be a help. I apply my modest efforts to the

Fungi lovers (mushrooms & us) group

Started growing its power 4 months ago, delegated myself to its account, and curate every post / x-post to the group. With OCD support ofc it would be a more pleasurable and efficient thing.

Here is some stats: it is 203 subscribers, 48 active users, 62 pending payouts at the moment. Sort of an intro post is here, and an ad post here.. There was not too much of a feedback in comments, but the subject is quite popular, the number of participants and activity are organically growing.

If I may speak for others, please consider supporting, among others, two important groups:
AmazingNature developed by @adalger, and
Kidz community run by @steemean

So.. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much @qwerrie for promoting the Kidz Community.

😊

Thank you @qwerrie for adding the Amazing Nature community here in your comment ^^

This initiative is incredible because it will help communities with great ideas and initiatives like this one to improve and grow. Thank you so much for all the work and effort you do.

I really love the amount of support the ocd community has been giving to other communities. It makes the overall experience pleasant for an average user on the hive blockchain. On behalf of the stemsocial community, I want to say thank you. The team and the entire stemsocial community appreciate your support.

All the support you have given to the #featheredfriends community is appreciated SO much! I'm excited about your ideas for ways that we can continue to grow. ❤️

People who like birds are more likely to see your post about birds, I'm not sure what your issue is with interested parties having more chance of seeing your content.

I guess that's what happens when antisocial people use social media.

Some people just don't blend well with others.

Could be that, just confusing to me why someone would want relevant content to be less visible!

I would love to see posts from you about birds in the #featheredfriends community @drutter. It's a great opportunity to learn about the different birds that live all around the world!

Damn, we'll have to work out butts off to get @HiveHustlers in on here as we are big @OCD fans, however, thank you for sharing this post, and we strive to be a part of your curation program!

This is a very good idea as this will increase content discovery as this is one of the major problem on #hive.
We still need to find ways to make newbies get addicted to the platform..

This post has got me thinking of ways

It is a great way of promote community importance on Hive. The thing which was missing earlier on Steem now flourishing and blooming rapidly. And with your support...it going to be good

For what ??🤨 Seems you taking my comment in another way....what kind of supporting u asking for ?

This is awesome! I have started a new project and community that is creating a new tribe on HIVE. We already have the token HEARTS staking and the 1000 BEE to distribute the token, are being powered down as we speak to distribute the token. We still need to raise the BEE to afford the website distributed by HIVE Engine. We have some team members waiting to come on board that are just creating HIVE accounts or about to. Some corporate support already, and a partnership forming with a financial consultant. Our new community is called Health and Recovery, and is focused on Recovery in all Health and Medical conditions, procedures, treatments, surgeries, substance abuse, diseases and all things that promote a healthy balanced lifestyle. We already have an incentive program with an online counselling service for our new subscribers and curators, or their friends and family who may be in distress. We want to raise funds to have an emergency pool to help donate to people and or charities in need, especially in times of emergency or duress.
Our Introduction post can be found here

https://hive.blog/hive-121589/@deuceman/introduction-to-hearts-health-and-recovery-tribe-coming-soon

and the link to the community is here https://hive.blog/trending/hive-121589
Thanks for the help I have joined the Discord server. Now I will delegate some HIVE Power to @ocd immediately.

Hey, no need to delegate to @ocd, @ocd will be delegating a little to communities. I noticed you're already in our Discord so will get back to you soon!

oh it is to late, I did it right away and being a newbie I don't know how to undo or un-delegate yet. @acidyo

I'm assuming you used peakd.com to delegate? In that case just delegate to @ocd again but set the amount to 0 (zero).

we started chatting last time on discord,. not sure why the conversation halted.. would you like to pick it back up? Id like to involve @ecoTrain in this curation initiative.. thanks!

Yes, please DM me or tag me in our Discord. Real life got in the way for a long time. Thanks!

Thanks for the update, since you said about you'll support the new community. Maybe it's fine to suggest that you will support the @hiveph community. Even though it's a community that was made to support the Filipinos. I think it's a valid suggestion since our community still low its reputation.

If you'll try visiting our community you will know that might be new or might found your interest. The Philippines community is just growing so I hope to have your support.

It may be something I forgot to mention in this post as I've mentioned it in the past ones or in so many other places and many times before (not your fault I just took it for granted), but this is more about genre's and not general content specific to certain languages or countries.

ah, thanks for taking time in answering my comment. I get it now, hehe

We'll try to formulate new ideas that could be fitting to all ph users.

Great Job OCD, we'd love to get on the list someday. We've been around for a while now and have been promoting authors from Nigeria. Fingers crossed

This is a very thoughtful way of empowering communities on Hive. May you have a look at HODL community, it is a community focused on blockchain, crypto related topics. If I'm not mistaken it is in it's third month and the growth of subscribers have been consistent with interesting posts in the community daily.

Regards.

I would like to see OCD supporting the HODL community. A really active community supporting a lot of HIVE users.

Here a link to the community:

Thanks @acidyo for taking the time to help other communities thrive!

Wooo excelente iniciativa

Hey,

@hodlcommunity is growing steadily since the very beginning. Strongy advice you to check the quality of the posts and the value added by the community members. 😎

Thank you for the support but it seems they do not want to curate crypto related content. Well, we are going to continue to BUIDL by ourselves hehe 😂

where are your hometown

Cool to see the BEER support

Hey @ocd, here is a little bit of BEER from @sunsea for you. Enjoy it!

Learn how to earn FREE BEER each day by staking your BEER.

Whooot, thanks for supporting the third most drunken liquid on earth BEER.

The BEER community is quite active and we have today 519 members. There are many different things we do and here a short intro.

I will inform the community about the OCD support and we will be more active here with the high quality posts from each week.

Background #BeerSaturday

Since more than 3 years we as well run the #BeerSaturday Challenge** where you might win some HIVE or BEER token and now as well an OCD vote - but only for quality content with some nice pics and your own story about that beer at this bar or at that situation with your friends an family.

Background BEER token

Most of you know that there is as BEER token and the beloved !BEER delivery service from @BeerLover who is sending free token as a thank you to anybody where you comment. Sure, you need to have some BEER staked to do this and you may read all the details at the blog of @beerlover

Next steps

We will follow the rules from OCD and will come with some posts about beer and we will use as well the discord #beer channel.

Please give us a hand, if we do anything wrong or let us know where we can do better

I hope more will be posting in your community.

Hey @ocd, here is a little bit of BEER from @detlev for you. Enjoy it!

Dear @ocd

One thing that Hivemind is lacking right now is the ability to set beneficiaries on their community to reward their curators and moderators

This is indeed very good point. Something I thought about for quite a while already.

Some communities like @project.hope or @hodlcommunity managed to solve that issue by encouraging community members to set up beneficiary manually at each of their post - however this solution is far from perfect.

This solution however allows our community to grow much faster and stronger, since moderators and admins have some resources. So your suggestion is surely worth implementing.

We realize this is a touchy subject but we believe that incentivizing curators and moderators to do a good job at keeping their community clean and curating well will turn them into much better communities than without.

Very true. After all - right now stake holders have ways to monetize their work (either by curating manually, joining curation trails or delegating their HP. Authors also have ways to monetize their work. Unfortunatelly community leaders, moderators have no opportunity to achieve it.

Yours
Piotr

I think this is a good decision in terms of decentralizing and empowering other communities. I only note that, apart from #TheInkWell (which is currently at rest with regard to poetry challenges), there seems to be no other option for those who, like me, are involved in literary publishing. Or maybe I'm wrong. Greetings, friends.

WOW this is a fantastic idea! thanks for inspiring people to do more engaged with their community!

Excellent initiative. It seems to me that Hive should empower communities and especially users who create quality content, terms that must be conceptualized so as not to fall into the discussion "my posts are better than others and they don't vote for me", at after all, in what way or what criteria can we use to assess whether a content is of quality.

This is such a great program from your side !! I would really like to mention the Amazing Nature in here too .. Unfortunately I am in holiday right now and can not spend to much time here in Hive at the moment, but I will come back to you, hehe ^^ .. There are really many Hiveans posting some amazing posts about nature there and any way to appreciate them for their great work would be highly appreciated ;)

excelente

Hi @ocd ! We missed the post for some reason. First of all thank you so much for selecting Foodies BeeHive :)

I represent FoodiesBee Hive. I am a mod there. Do let us know what are the next steps! :)

I somehow reached this post, though this post is an old post, this is what I was looking for.
Recently created a community and I am looking for ways to build it.
This is the link to the community - https://peakd.com/c/hive-123740/created

@ocd, kindly take a look a this.

Wonderful initiative that encouraged me to create the Vida Verde community.

I have a big doubt, I wrote by Discord following the recommendations of the publication and I sent the link of the Presentation of the Vida Verde Community and now I cannot enter OCD in Discord. 🫣

Will it be because I sent it through the wrong channel?

If you have a great idea, please write a pitch post to the community and come to us with that and we will gladly give it some visibility through reblogs and votes to see the reaction of the user base before we make a decision. What we mean by this is that we would want you to put in some effort before spending time asking for support or delegations.

Wow! Really like this post and would love to participate on the community incubation program with @surfhive . We're still new in the space, with just couple members, but I'd love to understand how mature we would have to be in order to apply. Pura vida!

 last year (edited)

this is the right choice for writers. The feeling of wanting to write will definitely grow in a person and original content that is always held in high esteem can be obtained from the experience of the person who wrote it. Hopefully there will be a good community like this at Hive
