A dream becomes reality.

Only quality education will ensure a stable future for our country.

Eureka! I have done it! Note that this above is not a posed photo, as I took it during their class time.

Our country faces severe unemployment problems and it is stated that we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. Thousands of children go to bed hungry at night and as a charity we are trying our best to enlighten their burdens.
The Papillon Foundation aka @papilloncharity supports a school feeding scheme at 21 schools in the area, but this is not enough as there are many children that are not at school. At the moment, we are also considering a partnership with a community feeding scheme.
But how do we really make an impact on this debilitating situation?
Education and skills training is the answer.

Here below you can see the joy of achievement by the dancing girl.
059.JPG

The trainer, a professional coding wizard, doing his thing with the children.
083.JPG

Skills training is of the essence, and for a long time I dreamt about launching a free quality coding training course for the children. Their uniforms are supplied by the Imibala Trust and this is their computer training center. The first time that I saw this center I knew that it would make a perfect place for my dream to take place. We started the pilot towards the end of last year and there are now great expansion plans, as the course has become wildly popular.
We don't have the funding yet to expand the amount of students, but I am sure that we will reach our targets somehow.
098.JPG

We also have another volunteer coding trainer that is more familiar with Java computer coding. And the first trainer is a specialist in Python computer coding. We are discussing how to implement the different coding programs as the kids progress.
071.JPG

Here we have Randall at the left, Marian in the middle, and Pieter on the right looking very happy.
036.JPG

The first batch of 20 Samsung tablets have arrived, and as the student numbers grow more will arrive by a corporate donor that is very impressed with the coding skills training course.
017.JPG

Finally, we returned home from the visit and Marian was doing her normal thing.
140.JPG

Not every child can be trained as a coder and we know this, thankfully at Imibala there are also many other skills training courses for free to poor children. Things like ballet, music, art, drama, cooking, mathematics, dancing, and a few others. Our focus is on the coding training as IT is the future.

The Papillon Foundation also supports the police victim support unit, the local Rape Crisis Center, the Little Angels Home for disabled children, and of course the feeding projects.
Our aim is to give the children in the coding course a secure future and the course runs over 3 years.
First the short "Scratch" course to orientate the children, then Python training in the second year and finally the Python exam at the end of the third year.

Somewhere during this period we will also fit in the Java training and exams.

We have to do what we can to provide as many opportunities and empowerment for others. Just that hand-up and help can mean the difference between success and failure, or having provision or living in poverty. We pray that we will be able to help many more to provide for their families and to step into the next level in their walks in this life.

Thank you for your continued support for @papilloncharity

Hot damn. I never quite realised what work you did with your charity. For some reason I had it in my head it was animals. Great stuff man, you are making a real difference!

Thank you Sir. We are just so thankful that we could partner with a larger charity partner, The Imibala Trust, to make this dream come true. Of course we, The Papillon Foundation get no revenue out of this, but we are not doing it for the money.
Every cent of the post income will one day go directly into Papillon's account. In fact, every cent of this @papilloncharity account will go directly into Papillon's account. It is to secure the future of our work to continue after I am gone.

It's my fault to not explain this to people, but a few trusted souls like Taraz and a few others, including you now know about this. The normal thing is that people will think that the account is for my own pocket, but the day that I start doing some powerdowns, I will post the transfer evidence that it went directly into the Papillon account.

That's why I keep building the account with my nature blogs 😊

I knew the account was for your charity thanks to Mr Taraz. He is a good sort and I think it was thanks to him I checked your blog!

You are doing a lot of good, I take my hat off to you!

You are also a good sort and I am glad that now you know what we are really doing.
A friend said that I should post more charity posts, but I have don't think that's a good idea, as we don't want to seem like begging constantly for support.

Today was a good day, as I have never had such a high income on a post and it's all thanks to Acid.
Taraz is a good guy and so are you Boomy.

We are all good guys! :0)

It's well deserved. I know what you mean about the chapter type of posts but I think it is fine to put the odd one up especially ones like this that bring us in to what is happening. I really enjoyed seeing the stuff for the kids

Totally agreed!

So many has asked for more and I will occasionally post more about our work. But like I said somewhere else, I don't want people to think that we are bragging about what we do, as it is much more serious than promoting ourselves.

Very cool python hive blockchain training school

Post your proposal to https://app.telos.net decide or use telos decide voter app on iosnor android and theyll help u with a grant to pay for 5% proposal fre thrres like 5 million dollars ready to go for telos or hive x telos baded projects ask @hellotelos or @telosnetwork or @summerskin

Thank you for the advice and I will have a look into this.

Absolutely wonderful work you're doing! I love the fact that the core focus is education. Keep powering on.

Glad that you understand my vision, as it's the only way that we will make real progress in this country.
Start at the root of the problem instead of later trying to put plasters on the sores.

!PIZZA

True, the root is in the education!

Absolutely agreed!

This is a wonderful introduction to the world of computer to the kids, I'm sure they would even be more grateful to this institution in the future. because the future is digital

We started with basic computer literacy courses years ago and it had great successes, so one has to move with the times as IT is evolving every day. But one has to offer quality tuition with set progress reports and final accreditations, instead of trying fly by night stuff.
It is our imperative to prepare the children for the future.

wow, I like the help you guys give, I hope this works fine and they use their skills well, I also went to something like this but it was not a free one and the teacher is still learning coding at that time but I was able to come out as number 1 in the class and also the surpass my teacher but that was then lol, due to ti other things that life as to offer I lost most of my coding skill and I am currency thinking if going back to an online school to get my skills back, but if you guys can put me along with this program of your that is an online class I will be happy to join.

🤗

Nope, this is still in it's pilot phase before we role it out and it's only for disadvantaged school children.
I am sure that if you do some research, that you will find an online coding course to suit your needs.

No problem Man, keep up the good work.

Good work Zac!

Keep it up!

Yes it is true that education is the key

Always has been the best way to empower people.

Ok this is pretty cool. Getting practical skills training like that is invaluable!

Thank you and yes I totally agree with you.

This is just awesome Zac, I'm so happy that all your perseverance has paid off and that you got this sponsorship! Kudos to the Imibali Trust and to all of you involved in giving up your time, and to the guys teaching them! Blessings to you and Marian for just keeping on through tough times, not only with the feeding scheme, but also with your other projects. Giving hope to those people and giving these children the skills that will certainly help them reach their full potential! You made me shed a few happy tears reading this, wonderful news💞

Now this is the kind of comment that gives me "gooseflesh", as it is so clear to me that you understand the importance of what we are doing. To bring real hope to others by teaching them to help themselves. Not dodgy and false hopes, but the real thing.
The trick is to discover the talents in each child and then to develop those talents.

I think that you know since our relocation down here to the Cape 3 years ago, we and Papillon first had to root ourselves in order to recreate the great successes that we had for the 17 years that we spent up north, but slowly the trust in us has started to build up again.
Yes, it is tough going but real success always require sacrifices.
Nobody trusts people that does things for free, unless they can get some benefit from it.

The feeding is a free hand out and the skills development is a hand up in life.
My reasoning is very simple. If you can help one person then you can help a thousand people and all that it takes is commitment and dedication.

Thank you for the kind comment and have a free !PIZZA

Knowledge is important. Good luck.

Indeed it is, thank you.

Huge congratulations on the progress of your coding class, Zac 👏
I think the future is looking much better now for @papilloncharity and for you two great guys 😀

I also think that writing such a post from time to time or even more often is a great idea, because most of us know about your work and that way we stay informed about the awesome work you are doing.

I have been offline yesterday, so I saw this post only right before, and I might be mostly offline for the rest of the weekend as well.

Thank you kindly Hannes,

As you know, we are only doing what we both love to do and the greatness lies in the projects.

Yes, I will try to do more posts to keep everyone updated, but I will keep them subdued as I am scared that people will think that we are bragging.

You need some rest and you deserve the break after the long hours that you work. So enjoy 😊

Cheers and thanks.

You're most welcome, my friend 😊

Yep, I know what you mean, but a post from time to time might attract new followers and friends, and you didn't ask for anything in this post, you just told people what you are doing and that you love what you do, that you love to help the poorest of the poor.

Wishing you two a nice evening and a wonderful Sunday, Zac 🌞

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

And sadly they are now again taking income off the post total my friend. Total was 248.24 and now sitting at 239.55, by the time that it gets to 7 days it is going to be seriously depleted.
But I hear what you are saying and yes, I will never ask for anything, but only post updates occasionally.

Thank you and like I said previously, I hope that your Sunday was also good 😊

Cheers and thanks.

I think when the Hive price goes up these numbers will go up again too.

My Sunday was okay, but I have told you about it in another reply 😊

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)
!invest_vote

Yes, but the sad thing is that when the numbers go up, they don't restore the old posts to it's original value. I have been thinking about it and I think that if they design a separate pool of funds for the -minus hive price times, then they don't take any funds from the post values.
Everyone can put a 10% benefit on their posts to this stabilization fund.

Oh yes, I saw that you were swanking around in Slovakia 😉

Cheers and thanks.

I think you have told me that already a while ago and I still don't know how that works. Maybe I really should do some research for these things one day.

Lol, Slovakia is also a beautiful country which I have never visited before 😉

This is amazing! I am truly happy for the kids, this is a great chance for them to acquire life changing skills. God bless you for your good deeds!

Thank you and this is what we live for Lady Mary. One day the kids will have a bright future and that's all that we ask for. We are indeed blessed to answer His calling.

!PIZZA

Education and skills training is the answer.

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic, well done to you and your charity. Some of these kids will no doubt be coders in the future and will make good money doing so 👌

Thank you kindly and I plan to also get some of them on hive once they have qualified.
So, a bright future awaits them.

What great stuff @papillioncharity. To see this training program taking hold and to realize that so many students are learning and enjoying the instructional time must warm your heart! Your efforts are bearing much fruit and it sounds like you are looking to expand the program as time passes.
Providing the skills needed to become self-sufficient and a productive member of society has to motivate these students even more.
There is nothing like having a partner like Marian at your side as you both have dumped your hearts into this foundation.

I read some of the comments and I also think keeping us #hiveians in the loop a little more with more posts about @papilloncharity would be a great idea.
Those that follow you and those that are just now learning what this charity is all about would realize that you are not begging, just doing the work that you have dedicated your lives too.

The success of this coding program puts a big smile on my face and shows me what the efforts of special people can do.
Your dream of making a difference in the lives of others is coming true right in front of your guys eyes.
Congratulations on the attention this post received.

God bless all the people that give so much to making the lives of others a little brighter.

Thank you for the kind words here

The honors go to @acidyo for helping us with the post and he knows how important our work is.
Now let me explain to you how the project will expand.
At first for the pilot launch we selected 16 students as Papillon donated 9 new laptops with licensed software for the project. So it is 8 students in the morning and 8 in the afternoon.
The 16 students are all Grade 10 learners and when they move over to Grade 11 we will start them with Python coding. In the meantime 30 new Grade 10 students will be enlisted from selected schools. as we have received more donated machines and then it will be 15 in the morning and 15 in the afternoon with two volunteer trainers in both classes.
The first pilot group will do their last year in Python when they are in Grade 12 and at the end of the year they will do the Python exams. So this is a continuous pattern that I foresaw.
Marian is a great help and a Reverend described our relationship thus; Zac is the Aircraft and Marian is the nuts and bolts. (I see the gestalt and she sees the nitty gritty stuff).

Like I said, we are proud of the people that we help, especially when we see the results and I cannot tell you how happy I am when a lost soul discovers himself and his hidden talents in one of the Papillon projects. They leave, get jobs and wave at us when they drive by in their new cars. They had nothing when the first came to us. Then we know that they can feed their own families and hopefully also help others. That is our rewards and then why must I ever beg for support?
We are in our 21st year now and I earn an ordinary domestic worker's salary, but I am happy.
So that's why I only do occasional posts because people are bombarded with calls for help and we don't want to be seen like that.
It is not pride or ego, as we believe that special people will be appointed to support us and that's why we have survived for so long.

Thank you for the kind words in the ending of your reply and we also thank you guys sincerely for all of your support.

!BEER !PIZZA and !LUV for Lady Robin.

Your game plan seems to be right on track.
Just yesterday Robin and I were talking about all of the wonderful work you and Marian do for this charity and we were wondering how long you have been involved. 21 years is something very special and the longevity of this charity speaks to its dedicated leaders and to its success.
Thanks for the pizza my friend.

Thank you my friend and it is our calling to serve.
I walked away from the business world and everyone thought that I had lost my mind, but instead I had a visit from someone very special and my whole life changed.
So I will continue to serve until my time on this earth is over and Marian feels the same.
Such is life.

Wow. I never realized this was on here. You're doing an amazing job really. It's impressive. To think I've been a lot passionate at starting something like this in my own place. Wow. This was like a sign for me. Thank you and keep up the good work ❤️

Thank you kindly and yes I am happy that it was a sign for you as it is an affirmation for you to start something similar in your area. Just remember to always include the community members in all of your decisions and designs, as they know what they need.
Been going for 21 years now, so we will definitely keep it up ❤️

!PIZZA

Wow! 21 years?! That's a lot and it takes a lot of determination, hardwork and sacrifice to achieve this much! Totally amazed right now... More Grace! 🙏

Oh yes, it is a tough road, but we simply have to keep on helping, as poverty is a dilemma that so many find themselves in. So every success is to His glory and we just continue to do what we do.

Blessings and grace also to you 🙏

This is absolutely fantastic and shows what you guys are all about. I also like the other courses that you do, as you say, not everyone will be able to learn to code!
Reading this post also took me back to 2020 when during the lockdown I also took python courses for a few months, albeit it was online with the Open University.

Thank you kindly and yes I try to cover all bases with the design of the projects. Up north we charged student fees in order to make the projects self sustaining, but now times are very tight down here in the south and so we do it for free.
So you have a wee bit of Python experience and I have even less. But we have highly experienced volunteer tutors in the project and it is running very well.
In fact they love what we do and have started to take ownership of the coding project, which is always a good thing.

!BEER

Are all the charity activities based down south now?
But, you have done really well getting a broad range of projects for everyone.
As for the python it is interesting now that I joined Hive as I have run a few programs based on data that I have seen in various places.
We never stop learning😁

No, all of the projects up north were taken over by the big church group that bought our Papillon premises. So now they are running the projects under their own name. I built a mezzanine floor in the hall and installed a PC training center on the new floor. It has 30 PC's on student desks and we sold the lot plus the trainer to them when they bought the building.

Oh yes, I think that it is worthy to know python, but I am too old and my memory leaks like a sieve.
Great that you can engage in it and I hope that it will help you a lot in the future.

You are so right regarding the learning issue.

!PIZZA

I built a mezzanine floor

wow so you are pretty handy then!

It is great that they did buy everything and I hope you got a good price for it all.

I have always dabbled in computer programming since uni days and the start of computers, and the python course and exam was all free, so I thought why not:)

Been in the construction trade for many years before I changed to the management business.

Yes we thankfully got a good price and it is invested long term into a Papillon Endowment fund. It is the same fund that I am trying to build with the Papillon account here on Hive.
That's why I am hodling to build a decent stash as it will help Papillon's future once that I depart this planet.

Only got my first PC in 2002 and I started to take our charity pictures as evidence of our work with a small Canon Powershot SX450. (My first camera)

Ah I am about twenty years in front of you PC wise, so you have been a Powershot fan for twenty years. That is well cool.
