What great stuff @papillioncharity. To see this training program taking hold and to realize that so many students are learning and enjoying the instructional time must warm your heart! Your efforts are bearing much fruit and it sounds like you are looking to expand the program as time passes.
Providing the skills needed to become self-sufficient and a productive member of society has to motivate these students even more.
There is nothing like having a partner like Marian at your side as you both have dumped your hearts into this foundation.
I read some of the comments and I also think keeping us #hiveians in the loop a little more with more posts about @papilloncharity would be a great idea.
Those that follow you and those that are just now learning what this charity is all about would realize that you are not begging, just doing the work that you have dedicated your lives too.
The success of this coding program puts a big smile on my face and shows me what the efforts of special people can do.
Your dream of making a difference in the lives of others is coming true right in front of your guys eyes.
Congratulations on the attention this post received.
God bless all the people that give so much to making the lives of others a little brighter.
Thank you for the kind words here
The honors go to @acidyo for helping us with the post and he knows how important our work is.
Now let me explain to you how the project will expand.
At first for the pilot launch we selected 16 students as Papillon donated 9 new laptops with licensed software for the project. So it is 8 students in the morning and 8 in the afternoon.
The 16 students are all Grade 10 learners and when they move over to Grade 11 we will start them with Python coding. In the meantime 30 new Grade 10 students will be enlisted from selected schools. as we have received more donated machines and then it will be 15 in the morning and 15 in the afternoon with two volunteer trainers in both classes.
The first pilot group will do their last year in Python when they are in Grade 12 and at the end of the year they will do the Python exams. So this is a continuous pattern that I foresaw.
Marian is a great help and a Reverend described our relationship thus; Zac is the Aircraft and Marian is the nuts and bolts. (I see the gestalt and she sees the nitty gritty stuff).
Like I said, we are proud of the people that we help, especially when we see the results and I cannot tell you how happy I am when a lost soul discovers himself and his hidden talents in one of the Papillon projects. They leave, get jobs and wave at us when they drive by in their new cars. They had nothing when the first came to us. Then we know that they can feed their own families and hopefully also help others. That is our rewards and then why must I ever beg for support?
We are in our 21st year now and I earn an ordinary domestic worker's salary, but I am happy.
So that's why I only do occasional posts because people are bombarded with calls for help and we don't want to be seen like that.
It is not pride or ego, as we believe that special people will be appointed to support us and that's why we have survived for so long.
Thank you for the kind words in the ending of your reply and we also thank you guys sincerely for all of your support.
!BEER !PIZZA and !LUV for Lady Robin.
Your game plan seems to be right on track.
Just yesterday Robin and I were talking about all of the wonderful work you and Marian do for this charity and we were wondering how long you have been involved. 21 years is something very special and the longevity of this charity speaks to its dedicated leaders and to its success.
Thanks for the pizza my friend.
Thank you my friend and it is our calling to serve.
I walked away from the business world and everyone thought that I had lost my mind, but instead I had a visit from someone very special and my whole life changed.
So I will continue to serve until my time on this earth is over and Marian feels the same.
Such is life.
