Hi guys!!!
I liked STEEM, but I love... HIVE, the STEEM fork. I also started PowerDown on STEEM, to move to HIVE... but that's another story!
I am not here to introduce myself, and to tell you what I do, and what I have done, what I like and what I do not like about STEEM and HIVE.
I'm a mannequin and maybe it's my first serious post since 2017.
I want to go straight to the point.
When HIVE was launched I said to myself, "Well the name is not that bad ...", but I wasn't sure at brand level ... in fact I asked myself: "What if I search “HIVE” in Google?!? How many relevant and irrelevant results will I get?!?”
Which I didn't do that day.
Try to search for "HIVE BLOCKCHAIN" in Google!
Here is the result:
... it's not really what I wanted to see!
As you can see it is not HIVE.io ... but HIVE Blockchain Technologies LTD. since 2017 ... and it's not HIVE-tuna-pasta-technologies, but a company that deals with blockchain!
https://hiveblockchain.com/
It does not end here…
"HIVE BLOCKCHAIN REQUESTS CEASE AND DESIST FROM NEW STEEM COMMUNITY HARD FORK USING SAME NAME"
Here is the link:
https://hiveblockchain.com/news/hive-blockchain-requests-cease-and-desist-from-new-steem-community-hard-fork-using-same-name/
I know... this is an old news (March 2020) and what else can I say?!?!? I understand their point.
I also went back to @roelandp's post to see if there was any info... but I only found @amico 's comment with an interesting link:
https://www.coindesk.com/steem-fork-faces-legal-threat-from-mining-firm-over-hive-name
And I also found this:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/canadian-miner-hive-blockchain-issues-cease-and-desist-to-steem-fork-hive
The choice of the name was not that clever, but I don't want to add anything else.
Actually, I do have an idea: NoNamesLeftToUse-blockchain ;-)
I'm just kidding @nonameslefttouse :-)
Let's avoid the comments like... "sue Steemitri, he's just a mannequin!" or "sue the community ..." etc. etc.
Has this been mentioned before? Maybe I missed some posts, I don’t know.

Hey Steemitri 🙂
It has been discussed a bit but a TDLR:
Hive Blockchain Technologies is not a blockchain.. and “Hive” is a pretty common name.. one that can’t be trademarked. So while it seems the company did send out a lovely notice, they have no trademark.
Totally different areas of business and in my personal opinion - not an issue at all.
I’d say we can carry on as normal.
Hi Justine! Thanks for your comment.
I assumed it had been mentioned in Discorsd or somewhere else, also because the news is from March.
I honestly think that the choice of the name is not that clever; I know it sounds good, I know It is a common name, etc., but at marketing level, SEO, SEM, etc. it's not that great. IMHO.
It is true that if HIVE will be successful, the search engine bots, social media, press, etc. will give the right visibility.
NoNamesLeftToUse-blockchain. I really like that name.
It's good to see you here.
I'd would have chosen that name ;-) I love it!
lol, nice one!
https://steemit.com/steem/@seo-boss/marketing-steem-vs-hive-german-english
Su questo ti do' ragione e l'articolo che hai riportato (molto interessante), lo conferma.
Vedremo se si riuscirà ad uscire il classico coniglio dal cilindro e portare qualcosa di buono anche a livellod i marketing.
Hahaha!
Tutto #safu #safu qui!
Spero tutto ok dalle tue parti ;-)
Saluti
CZ Steemitri
Si grazie, tutto OK e CZ #safu! 😂
This post proves that you are very smart for a dummy!
Hahaha, thanks.
I still think, when choosing a name for a project, you should Google it first in depth.
Let's go big and buy the other guys out!
Hey @steemitri will you now have to be Hiveoratio? Or some such? ;) When I googled hive to log in I keep getting some HIVE site that is like a business sign in for shared business deals or some such? Glad you are here.
Hey!!! Thanks for your comment... and I like Hiveoratio, hahaha!
Really irrelevants results with keywords like "hive blockchain", "hive social", "hive dapp", etc.
Hugs from Switzerland
Steemitri The Mannequin
You are a lucky Lot, @steemitri to live in Switzerland I have heard you have the smarts to not isolate but let disease play out, is that true? We're always under the thumb here in the 'freedom' of the USA :/
We are super close to Lombardia, Italy, so the whole situation was not that easy. We had to stay at home, but also had some space of freedom. Things are getting a lot better now.
US situation looks not so good at the moment :-(
