MANUAL CURATION - I'm back!

in OCD5 years ago (edited)

Yo yo!

If anyone here knows my history and place in our community, he/she will know how much I appreciate manual curators and manual curation. It is something I really hold in a high place, probably something more than being a witness.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to attack the witness position. I am just sincerely happy when I see genuine engagement and people willing to invest their time into manual curation. Just like I know that we need our witnesses to do a great job to keep this blockchain safu and smooth, I also know that genuine engagement is something small that can push our blockchain on a whole another level.

Don't get me wrong again... :) I'm not talking about manual curation where curators know who is creating fairly good posts and then upvoting them always. I am talking about real manual curation where the curator literally reads every post and deciding whether to curate it or not.

It is a special feeling for me. It is putting me into a position to know my community and how it breathes. It is a place where one can grow bunch of ideas that can benefit us.

Back in the early days of my crypto journey, I realized that I want to be a curator and that it is a perfect role for me. I worked my ass off to be in the community, help it grow and I was very lucky to be in a couple of curator positions.

I curated for @hivegc, @vimm, @ocd, and @dtube. I cannot pretend that it wasn't hard to do that since you need to spend a lot of time to be good at it. But, it was worth it because those were my best days on our blockchain.

I'm not talking about the monetary benefits I had. because I had them. I'm talking about that special feeling where you feel like a part of the community and something big. A feeling where you grow as a person and where you are the wheel that is pushing the whole community forward.

Unfortunately, due to some health issues and other reasons, I stopped curating and turned to semi auto-voting. Since then my motivation dropped and I realized that it is not the way I want to spend my time here.

It's not something I really want but I had some issues with something going on our blockchain and it seems like only time could solve that. But, I'm glad I managed to go through that all and to be now in this position.

I fell motivated and energized. Do you wonder where I got that? From our lovely members of the community. I see them all over the place. On Twitter, on Reddit, on Facebook, on Instagram. Everywhere. They are the ones that got my motivation up so I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

From now on, I am turning off my auto-voting. I will only auto-vote a couple of communities but not people. If you want me, you can find me exploring recent posts in the all-topics section. I will be there daily and trying to find good posts and newcomers.

When I find them, I will often retweet it. I hope that others will check it out and see if they can cast a few upvotes, now and then.

All I can offer and promise is that I will read every post and watch every video before upvoting it. I always took manual curation seriously and I never tried to game it or find ways to make it easier. It is simple, if you want to manual curate, you need to invest your time in it and read every post.

There is no other way. That's the only way to genuinely grow the community and our ecosystem. It is how I see it and it is how I will do it. My way or highway :P

I also have some liquid Hive that I will probably power up if I don't see some trade options to get more Hive from it. I'll see about that in the next 10 days or so. Until then, you know where to find me :)

PS

I am working on my new project that could incentivize hodling. I am testing it and trying to find bugs and errors. If I see it will benefit the community, I will announce it ASAP. For now, I picked the name of the project and the logo. Good start :)

Okay, i added you to my favorite FAVORITE CURATORS list, If, when I have extra votes I will try to visit your curation trail and drop a few votes, mind you that wont be often as I do have a tendency to use most of my votes, and rarely do I have to drop in on OCD trail to drop a vote or two but it does happen.

I will hit your selection before OCD, so you will be actually my second go to account. I have a lot of list that I sometimes go through, I don't read every post I vote for, but I do read a lot of them and know how hard it is to actually look at the stuff you vote on.

Enjoy the content you find, and have fun.

Thanks a lot man, really appreciate that!

Manual curation is great but it takes a lot of time. But, the more motivated and well rewarded people we have, the more we all going to be better.

I will create almost daily post where I will highlight low rewarded but great posts. Feel free to check that post and cast a few upvotes if u have mana.

The post will be called 'No great post left behind'.

Thanks man. Cheers.

Sounds good, will look sometimes.

You are so experienced in this community with a proper guidance of the blockchain, manual curation help you to go through the community deeply, best of luck.

Thanks man, I'm glad to be in this position to help others and it's my biggest motivation on this blockchain.

Cheers!

Hello Whack science, nice to see you back in the game, I also do try to curate manually as possible, even with my tiny HP...not even for the rewards but just to play my part to keep the community going...and frankly I enjoy it.

I am working on my new project that could incentivize hodling. I am testing it and trying to find bugs and errors. If I see it will benefit the community, I will announce it ASAP. For now, I picked the name of the project and the logo. Good start :)

I've been looking out for this since you told me about it...I hope the plans are brewing well.

I'm really glad to be back 100%. I know the problems with HP but it is what it is, can't do much about it but invest more time and possibly money. :)

I never did it for ROI or rewards, I'm just genuinely happy to help others. As you said, it is really enjoyable!

About the project. It's my first serious one so I want to take time to test everything. It's nothing complicated but I already found some errors so had to fix it a bit. When I announce the project, I will surely ask the community to help me find more errors and even see if the project has a future. I believe it can have but you never know.

Thanks man! Peace!

respect dude. Manual curation costs a lot of time and patience.

In general I have some autovoters on for when I am working but always have some manual votes on the side and alays including comments.

Good to see more curators back <3

Thanks man!

That's the best way to go when you're busy and can't manually curate 100%. I will just leave a few communities on auto upvote and go 100% manually on people insert evil face xD

Peace!

evil curation!!! ow YES!

Hey Mr. Spacely @whack.science. I'm happy to hear you're back on track. Thanks for your integrity in curation.

Thanks to all of you for the motivation! I'm really glad to be back with this. Manual curation is my true real love on this blockchain.

Peace yo!

I'm still voting mostly manually as I want my votes to go where they are earned and where they do most good. Something I am trying is boring more on comments. The author still gets the rewards and less goes to the big accounts that vote without reading. This may compromise my own curation rewards in some cases, but I do okay. I want to see a better distribution of rewards. It all takes time, but it has to be fun for me, not work.

Manual curation is the only way to go, imho. I am also focusing on smaller accounts but I kinda don't wanna miss any good post.

That's why I created a new initiative 'No great post left behind' where I will highlight low rewarded but great posts. That way y'all can cast a few upvotes on great posts somehow missed by curators.

You can check it here if you r interested.

PS, yeah I should do more comments.

Time is the limiting factor. I spend too much of it on Hive as it is. I mostly read posts by the people I follow, but I will see others that they share. I do my #FollowFriday posts to try and get more attention for people who deserve it.

I think it's sad to see posts get hundreds of votes, but few or no comments. It shows that too many people are relying on auto-votes. I benefit from that, but would happily lose some rewards for more engagement.

Tell me about it, I'm mostly on Hive. If not, I'm probably sleeping lol

Yap, sad to see that and we must change it, step by step. Thanks for motivating me to comment more, I needed that!

I am working on my new project that could incentivize hodling. I am testing it and trying to find bugs and errors.

I would be interested to know, what extra incentives we can earn !!

I am currently working on it. It will be teamwork to get to a threshold to share rewards among each other for powering up. I hope it will work like that, still testing it and I will need a big help from the community.

I'll post about it when I'm sure it can work properly.

i like this :)

Me too! haha

I will always support you, keep the spirit. haha

Thanks man, you too!

okey. but i have a question. suppose i post a article. how can i get attention from you? dont lough. i am new here. so dont have any idea about this.

The best way to promote yourself is to create a good content, then engage with meaningful comments on other posts.

That way people we see u r a normal person and they will check you out.

The beginning is a bit hard but don't worry, you will have a lot of fun.

At the end, just create good content. :)

thank u bro. trying my best.

I curate mannualy. More or less. But, as you say, it's time consuming process. Every time I’m online, I read a few posts and if I like them, I reward them. But I don't read hundreds of posts, it's too much for me.
