Slightly more than 2 months ago, I wrote about blockchain-based digital advertising and how Basic Attention Token (BAT) is the leader in this area. So I have been using Brave browser for a while now and so far it has worked really well for me.
Both on desktops and mobiles, the performance of the browser is satisfactory and I am able to block away pesky advertisements without additional addons or extensions. More than 95% of the sites that I visit works fine despite the privacy preservation blocking done by the Brave browser. All in all, I am a happy user so far 😁
However, what truly differentiates the Brave browser from the rest is that you are able to earn BAT tokens by clicking on advertisements forwarded to you by the browser itself. This is a completely opt-in program and you can choose to not receive advertisements anytime.
As adoption continues to grow, I am starting to see more advertisements coming my way. With that, my BAT earnings have also grown substantially. So far I have received more than 20 BAT on my mobile browser,

And more than 8 BAT on my desktop browser,

Your earnings from your desktop browser can be cashed out to your personal ERC20 wallet. However, if you are using the mobile version of Brave browser, you may realize that there is no way for you to cash out your earnings yet.
What you can do, however, is to tip your favorite sites with your earned BAT. As far as I know, the interfaces on Hive (e.g. Peakd.com and Hive.blog) are all not displaying advertisements. Even for Steem, steemit.com has stopped displaying advertisements after Justin Sun took over. Hence, it will be a nice gesture to support them with BAT.
For me, my current favorite is Peakd.com. Thus, I have dropped them a 5 BAT tip this month. It isn't a lot but I guess every bit counts 🙂

Brave users continue to grow
Based on statistics from BATGrowth.com, the number of BAT holders is on a rising trend. This is likely an indication that the number of Brave browser users is also increasing.
As a result of this, I expect to see more merchants advertising on Brave and therefore providing more earnings to those who view the advertisements.
So, if you are not using Brave browser yet, do consider using it. Not only you can earn some cryptocurrencies, you can also support your favorite sites!

Dear @culgin
Interesting choice of topic. Im a bit tired to read more about C-19, so I found your post a bit refreshing.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this browser.
I wonder how BAT token economy is organized. It's great to know that we can earn some token, but where would demand for this token be coming from? Any idea?
How many BAT tokens are you capable of earning weekly? Those 20 BAT - how long did it take you to collect that much?
I'm using brave browser to surf on Steemit (desktop only) and so far I don't remember seeing any ads which I could click in order to receive some BAT tokens. Strange.
Solid read, upvoted already,
Cheers, Piotr
Hello there @crypto.piotr.
How long have you be using Brave for? As I also did not have ads for about the 3 first weeks and now I get 10-20 per day. I have earned 5 BAT in a week just using the desktop browser.
They claim they redistribute in BAT 70% of the money they get selling ads.
Hope it is helpful and as commented above, I also wrote a post about it a few days ago.
Cheers,
@vlemon
Hey, thanks for the comment! You can refer to my earlier post on how BAT token economy works. @vlemon also gave a nice brief explanation.
Nice post and I heard about it for a long time but just actually began using it a few weeks ago and I can say that I am quite happy I have done it !
Nothing much changes compared to Google Chrome, except I am now earning cryptos that I can tip to website/content creators that I like :).
Wrote about it 2 days ago, great minds think alike haha Be paid in Crypto (BAT) to browse !
Yup, good things ought to be shared 😄
I just read you post as well, nice one!
Love the Brave browser. Been using it for 1+ year and supporting a lot of YouTubers and websites.
Gotta love it right?
I've using brave browser for a while ago and is incredible, just truly ads and a faster internet also you can support you favorite sites.
Hello friend, Brave is very good, I also use it!
Resteemed already. Upvote on the way :)
I have just found this post and although it's 4 month old it seems relevant still :) It's good to know you can support peakd.com with your bat tokens, but I was wondering if it might be possible to send BAT to individual authors on HIVE blockchain. This would be really useful, as well.
