RE: Communities: At Last, We're About to Unlock the Social Aspect of Steem

in Project HOPE5 years ago

Steem is very social, many people are talking in smaller or larger groups about it - on Discord. :) But I don't like it either if all my comments are recorded in the blockchain.

Would you want it recorded on Facebook or Twitter instead? Where your data could be mined and sold without your consent?

Yea, talking on discord is good. But we need to bring that engagement here. Those unrecorded comments are quite valuable to our rankings. Thanks for stopping by.

Yes, if I can delete them. FB and Twitter are facing a lot of legislative and regulatory pressure. All things are changing continuously.
I can sue, demand Facebook or Twitter, but how can I sue a blockchain? Laws don't exist on Steem, some stronger guy can come and downvote me forever, everytime. Take away my money and ruin my work of years with downvotes. This is an anarchy.

I have to agree with you to a large extent, there are always pros and cons to everything. Your content are yours and you have control over it. But we can't say that of Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc. However, I think things could improve in the future.
