A new parkrun. Massive mosquitoes. And an awesome puppy!

in EXHAUST3 years ago

Yay!! We did a new parkrun. Well, let me clarify: the parkrun wasn't new; it just had its forth birthday, but it was new to us! And we do really like doing new things. Just ask @new.things :P

It was a small parkrun with just 24 participants and half a dozen volunteers. Small numbers meant I could run a relatively slow (for me) 28:53 and still finish as 1st in my age category, 3rd female and 8th overall. Woooo!

Despite being REALLY hot once we finished (it is summer in Brisbane after all) and being very willing to stick around, cool down and talk to the lovely volunteers, the MOSQUITOS were relentless, and HUGE! I've never seen anything like them in all my travels. Crazy!

So after a very quick pat of the ultra excitable Kelpie puppy, Milo, who did her first parkrun today, we hit the road in search of the local sites in this town, the town of Oakey (SE Queensland, Australia). Brad (aka @new.things) is working on a post about Oakey right now, so expect to see that sometime in the next 48 hours :)

Hey there, @consciouscat -- just want to give you a headsup that, when you log activities on the project website -- you should remember to make sure that you input your duration & distance when you add an activity, otherwise, you wont be rewarded w/ the "Weekly Leaderboard Rewards" that get redistributed each week:

image.png

The rewards aren't huge, but you have a number of activities that have 0km & 0-minutes.

@exhaust takes a 20% beneficiary cut off all posts. HALF of that (10% of the total post value) gets redistributed each Sunday based on certain activity metrics (distance activities like Running, Cycling, Hiking or Walking consider cumulative weekly distance, while Yoga, Climbing or Strength training consider cumulative weekly duration).

You can always edit your activity data a little bit after posting:

If you're not concerned about it -- that's fine. It just means others get more (and I'm sure they appreciate your generosity)!

Just wanted to let you know.

Cheers, and be well.

@exhaust, thank you so much for pointing this out. Because I find the initial input clunky I was attempting to speed up the process to help me stay motivated to keep using exhaust this way. But I can see that it's worth taking the extra one minute to add that data. Thank you. I hope your app creation and iterations are going well. Thanks for creating something that I could personally never make! :) !LOL

No problem! And yes -- the input forms are SUPER clunky. I keep meaning to make things better, but it's tricky to find time away from my actual dayjob.

Hoping to do some updating over the winter holidays.

Cheers!

They both measure wait.
