The weather has been beautiful the last couple of days, and there are so many lovely things to see and enjoy through biking. I am not a bike enthusiast, but I used to love biking in the countryside to gather wild edibles and pick up eggs and a jar of honey from the neighbouring village. I lost interest in riding my bike and left it unattended for a year, just sitting outside the house.
I seem to care less about new things but love tinkering with old things. I find them more interesting, full of character and meaning.
Suddenly, I had the urge to ride, but to my dismay, the bike was not working.
I was shocked to see it full of rust. Well, what do you expect if it wasn't kept properly? I had neglected it.
I spent some time restoring it to a decent, rideable state. First, I removed as much rust as I could.
I applied anti-rust, and I enjoyed its beautiful pink colour.
Then, I sprayed all the joints with WD-40. It's great stuff for smoothing mechanisms.
I pumped the flat tyres and checked the bolts.
And scrubbed the bike.
The result wasn't too bad. Most of the rust has gone away! It was a good few hours of work; I was trying to finish before the sun went down so I could test it.
I left home excited to ride and test it. The sun was setting at around 7 p.m., and I was trying to chase it to go to my favourite place to see the beautiful sunset.
A few neighbours on my way were pleased to see me riding again. They all had big smiles as I waved them hello.
When I reached the place, the sun was hiding under the clouds.
So I just enjoyed the fresh air, greenery, and lovely evening views;
I thought there was another day, something to look forward to!
Even though clouds hid the sunset, the serene evening views were worth the ride.
I stopped by and drank the still-hot coffee while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
It was getting dark quickly, so I returned home, but I felt fulfilled that I had restored my old bike and made it part of a new adventure.
Have a wonderful day, everyone.

What would we ladies do without WD-40? I've used it for so many stuck this and stuck that over the years.
Haha! It is like magic! Isn't It? It works brilliantly. It pushes water out and lubricates at the same time. Amazing invention I think.
Fantastic restoration job. Looking at the last picture, I'd raise that seat around 80mm or more to greatly improve your riding experience.
Thank you. I will try that! 😊
Hello Mariah and welcome to the Cycling Community!
Leaving a bicycle outside for a long time isn't the best as you can see, but you have done a great job restoring that bicycle.
Did you manage to get the rust of the chain as well?
I don't think you will lose interest in riding your bicycle soon again when you have those views, do you?

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, most of the rust is gone including the rust on the chain. Thankful for the clever inventions to amazingly get rid of them. 😊
That pink rust remover worked very well. Would you be kind enough to provide the brand name of the product?
Thanks!
Hi, yes, it did work really well. The brand is Jenolite. I have updated the post with a photo of the bottle of rust remover if you want to check it. 😊
Thank you very much!
Wowwww
I love this combination of colors, making the bike look awesome.
It's a nice job you just did, caring for what gives you joy.
Thank you. 😊
You're welcome, boss.
This makes me smile. It also reminds me to store my bike in a drier place, as I only bought it a couple of months ago and don't want it to get rusty. We should treat our bikes the way we treat our friends.
❤️
Absolutely, thank you. 😊
