Ya no me estoy buscando, se que el arte es parte de mi y nutrirlo me alimenta el alma tanto como un buen plato de comida a mi organismo. Esto lo confirmé ayer, desde que llegué a Chile, he tenido varios encuentros con el mundo del arte, cada uno con detalle que lo hace destacar, desde exposiciones, hasta ferias. Sin embargo, este pasado lunes 24 de Junio, mi corazón se sintió en su hogar nuevamente.

I am no longer looking for myself, I know that art is part of me and nourishing it feeds my soul as much as a good plate of food feeds my organism. I confirmed this yesterday, since I arrived in Chile, I have had several encounters with the art world, each one with details that make it stand out, from exhibitions to fairs. However, this past Monday, June 24, my heart felt at home again.

Fui a un conversatorio del artista chileno Carlos Ampuero, sobre su exposición: El Angel de la Historia, fue como una retrospectiva, desde que inició en este mundo, cómo fue su inspiración, el proceso migratorio como estudiante, luego como profesor y ahora su proceso creativo para esta exposición inmersiva.

I went to a conversation with the Chilean artist Carlos Ampuero, about his exhibition: The Angel of History, it was like a retrospective, since he started in this world, how was his inspiration, the migratory process as a student, then as a teacher and now his creative process for this immersive exhibition.

Escuchar atentamente a los artistas hablar sobre el desarrollo de una obra es algo que siempre me atrapa y esta vez no fue la excepción. Primero, me sorprendieron los tamaños de sus lienzos, luego, la iluminación que logra en sus pinturas. El trabajo del detalle que hace es digno de un profesional consagrado como profesor. Mi admiración y respeto, acrecentó cuando lo escuché tan conmovido y educado respondiendo todas las preguntas.

Listening attentively to artists talk about the development of a work is something that always catches my attention and this time was no exception. First, I was surprised by the size of his canvases, then, the lighting he achieves in his paintings. The detail work he does is worthy of a professional consecrated as a teacher. My admiration and respect increased when I listened to him so moved and polite answering all the questions.

Pero, lo que más atrapó mi atención fue la practicidad de su manera de pensar, eso realmente lo aplaudo pues, hace mucho vengo limpiando la imagen del artista irresponsable, atrapado en la “bohemia ilusa”. Carlos Ampuero es un artista con los pies en la tierra, pero sabe que lo místico de su talento educado está, pero solo depende de él pintar todos los día y no de una nube mágica.

But, what caught my attention the most was the practicality of his way of thinking, I really applaud it because I have long been cleaning the image of the irresponsible artist, trapped in the "illusory bohemia". Carlos Ampuero is an artist with his feet on the ground, but he knows that the mysticism of his talent is educated, but it only depends on him to paint every day and not on a magic cloud.

Salí muy conmovida de esta experiencia, primero porque fue un reto para mí salir sola, en uno de los días más frío, también porque siendo mi único día libre tenía otras cosas que hacer, pero hice honor al libro de Julia Cameron: EL Arte Debe Ser un Hábito y No un Lujo. Y, si ya estoy en este camino, mejor darle la atención que merece. Me identifiqué con las palabras de los artistas presentes, los más adultos para ser específica. Sin embargo, me complace tener una cruzada distinta y algo joven aun (risas).

I came out of this experience very moved, first because it was a challenge for me to go out alone, because, yesterday, it was one of the coldest days, also because being my only free day I had other things to do, but I honored Julia Cameron's book: Art Must Be a Habit and Not a Luxury. And, if I'm already on this path, I might as well give it the attention it deserves. I identified with the words of the artists present, the more adult ones to be specific. However, I am pleased to have a different and still somewhat young crusade (laughs).

Como dice uno de los libros sagrados: “No sólo de pan vive el hombre”. En lo que puedan hagan hábito su arte, teniendo experiencias distintas a la habituales, algunas que le recuerden sus inicios, a donde quieran llegar. Yo estuve en esa sala y volví a sentir el espíritu curioso de ser yo la expositora, porque si de algo estoy segura y confirmé una vez más, es que todos tenemos una historia que contar y que mejor de hacer que a través de nuestro arte.

As one of the sacred books says: "Man does not live by bread alone". As much as you can, make your art a habit, having experiences different from the usual, some that remind you of your beginnings, where you want to go. I was in that room and I felt again the curious spirit of being the exhibitor, because if I am sure of something and I confirmed once again, is that we all have a story to tell and what better way to do it than through our art.
