As mentioned in my previous post, this past Sunday my family hopped into our daughter's SUV and headed south to tour her future college home.
As per pretty much normal, my carefully crafted plans went a bit awry right from the start due to weather. We had planned on following Interstate 90 over the mountains to almost Butte, Montana where it connects to Interstate 15 and head south to Pocatello, Idaho where Idaho State University is located.
A pretty massive out of the blue snow storm crushed that plan.
The other two options to head south are to go over into Washington and head south to Oregon to Interstate 84 and head over to Pocatello or to take Highway 95 south through the entire state of Idaho. After consulting the tablets and all the weather uncertainty, we decided to take Highway 95, a choice that involved traversing some snow but not nearly as much as the other two ways.
That said, the diversion added almost three hours onto an already eight hour journey.
Sunday was a pretty long day.
But that's how things tend to go during the winter time in these parts, and we had to make the trip over the past two days because there is so much other things going on in our lives. I am sure you all know how that goes.
However, in true Kat tradition, a very serendipitous thing did occur.
We had just driven all the way down to Interstate 84 on Highway 95 and were at a gas station/A&W truck stop just on the Idaho side of the Idaho/Oregon border to fill up and get some grub.
A couple of women walked in and one of them had a very long blonde braid and was bedecked in western wear. As I snacked on some very tasty chicken strips I narrowed my eyes and studied the lady as I was pretty sure she was someone I knew.
In fact I was more than sure and got up and said hi!
You see, she was the sister of the guy I marched in my high school graduation with. Funny thing is that was over two decades ago, and I hadn't seen her since then.
It was a pretty fun, random meeting!
She was just coming back from a cutting horse competition and we both just kinda smiled like derps and laughed that we had just randomly ran into each other at a gas station.
But that's how road trips go, they are kind of magical in that way.
After several more hours and plowing through yet another snow storm, we finally arrived in Pocatello. Our hotel was beyond glorious and we all appreciated its amenities.
Speaking of amenities, there really are none in any place that can compare to one's home, and I know one thing for sure, I am so, so glad to be back at mine.
And on that note, off to bed I go, this road weary Kat is checking out for the night....
Hope you enjoyed there 😌
I did very much enjoy it there! Thanks so much for stopping by😊

Sorry for the snow storm! But I'm glad you were able to reach your destination safely. And that meeting people you haven't seen for a long time, what a coincidence! Surely if you had wanted to see each other it would have been more difficult. It's good that you were able to recognize each other, it must be strange to see someone 20 years older than last time 😅.
I hope you have a good walk. Greetings!
Winter is definitely trying to hold on!
I still am in awe about running into my old friend in such a random place so many hours from both of our homes, it was definitely cool! What's funny is that we both don't look that much different that we did as kids, maybe just a couple extra pounds and a few fine lines lol lol!
Thanks so much for the kind words and dropping by😊

What a hoot, running into someone from long ago in the middle of nowhere. And you recognized her! Yeah, the lingering winter is messing up assorted plans. I suppose it will go away by May.
It was really wild running into her in such a random place for sure! And I am really hoping after this weekend that Winter gives up on its lingering behavior and takes a hike, I got outside things I want to get done dang it!
