Having had a terrible experience camping in the cold of the mountains of El Bolsón despite the summer, when I was in Esquel I decided I would try again. I had met a new friend who had a tent for the two of us, and although she wasn't the mountain type either, we decided to give it a go. Unlike last time, as it was April and autumn was already upon us, I was more prepared in terms of shelter and blankets, which meant that I was able to sleep well for the two nights we stayed. In addition, we had the company of the campsite cats who slept with us for part of the night, which kept us even warmer 💕.
Después de haber pasado una terrible experiencia acampando en el frío de las montañas de El Bolsón a pesar del verano, cuando estuve en Esquel decidí que lo intentaría de nuevo. Había conocido a una nueva amiga que tenía carpa como para las dos, y a pesar de que tampoco era de las adecuadas para la montaña, decidimos intentarlo. A diferencia de la vez anterior, como era Abril y el otoño ya estaba entre nosotros, fui más preparada en cuanto a abrigo y frazadas, lo que hizo que pudiera dormir bien las dos noches que estuvimos. Además, tuvimos la compañía de los gatos del camping que parte de la noche durmieron con nosotras, lo que nos mantuvo todavía más calentitas 💕.
We both wanted to experience camping in Los Alerces National Park, 35 km from the centre of Esquel. The park is big and beautiful, so only one day is not enough to see everything. That's why we both organised our work schedules at the hostel so that we could spend three days at the campsite. We were also lucky that, even though it was April, there was still a campsite open. They say that at that time of the year it gets so cold at night that there are few campers so they close it, but we were just in time 😂.
Ambas queríamos vivir la experiencia de acampar en el Parque Nacional Los Alerces, a 35 km del centro de Esquel. El parque es grande y hermoso, por lo que solo un día no es suficiente como para ver todo. Fue por eso que las dos organizamos nuestros horarios de trabajo en el hostel para poder ir a pasar tres días al camping. También tuvimos suerte de que, a pesar de ser Abril, aún quedaba un camping abierto. Dicen que en esa época del año ya hace tanto frío por la noche que hay pocos acampantes así que lo cierran, pero nosotras llegamos justo a tiempo 😂.
But we weren't the only ones wandering around the campsite: there were also two kittens wandering around. They came around during our breakfast time and came back in the evening to crawl into our tent. We didn't judge them because it was so cold at night that it was understandable that they would seek shelter among some campers. It was in the National Park that I spent the coldest night outdoors: our mobile phones read -8°C, but because we slept like caterpillars in our sleeping bags with the cats on top of us, we hardly felt them 😅.
Pero no éramos las únicas dando vueltas en el camping: en él también habían dos gatitos paseando por los alrededores. Ellos se acercaban durante la hora de nuestro desayuno y volvían por la noche para meterse en nuestra carpa. No los juzgábamos porque por la noche hacía tanto frío que era entendible que buscaran un refugio entre algún acampante. Fue en el Parque Nacional que pasé la noche más fría a la intemperie: nuestros celulares marcaron una temperatura de -8°C, pero gracias a que dormimos como orugas en nuestras bolsas de dormir y con los gatos encima, casi que no los sentimos 😅.

During our stay in the park we were able to do several things, such as touring the shores of the huge Futalaufquen Lake, hitchhiking to Lago Verde, visiting the Yrigoyen Waterfall, walking along the Cinco Saltos trail and resting a bit at Puerto Limonao. This was much more than we could have done in one day there and back, so I was glad we went camping. On our last morning we decided to do something relaxed, so we just went for mates by the lake. Unlike the previous two days with beautiful weather, this time the weather was already cloudy and a bit nasty, something I like to have happen so I don't feel so bad about having to leave a great place 😂.
Durante nuestra estadía en el parque pudimos hacer varias cosas, como recorrer un poco las orillas del enorme Lago Futalaufquen, llegar a dedo hasta el Lago Verde, visitar la Cascada Yrigoyen, caminar por el sendero de los Cinco Saltos y descansar un poco en el Puerto Limonao. Esto fue mucho más de lo que hubiesemos podido hacer en un día ida y vuelta, por lo que me alegró haber ido a acampar. En nuestra última mañana decidimos hacer algo relajado, así que solo fuimos a tomar mates a la orilla del lago. A diferencia de los dos días anteriores con clima hermoso, esa vez el clima ya estaba nublado y un poco feo, algo que me gusta que pase así no me siento tan mal por tener que irme de un lugar genial 😂.
When I arrived in Esquel I had not planned to camp, but luckily the opportunity arose and I took it. I think Agos and I made a good camping and hiking team, so I was glad to have met her. This stay was very nice and Los Alerces National Park is beautiful, one of the must-see places if you are in and around Esquel. My country has so many things to do and having the opportunity to get to know more and more is something that fills me with satisfaction. I hope to be able to continue doing so for some more time ❤️.
Cuando llegué a Esquel no tenía planeado acampar, pero por suerte se dió la oportunidad y la aproveché. Creo que Agos y yo hicimos un buen equipo de acampantes y caminantes, así que me alegró haberla conocido. Esta estadía fue muy linda y el Parque Nacional Los Alerces el precioso, uno de los imperdibles si estas en la zona de Esquel y alrededores. Mi país tiene tantas cosas para hacer y tener la oportunidad de conocer cada vez un poco más es algo que me llena de satisfacción. Espero poder seguir haciéndolo durante algún tiempo más ❤️.

Si, este parque tiene un montón de espacio verde.
Y supongo que esos gatos viven en el refugio del administrador del camping, eso espero jajaja

Que experiencia tan maravillosa Laura, me alegra que le dieras una nueva experiencia al parque y que tu compañera haya sido buena, yo no estoy tan segura de poder disfrutar nada a esa temperatura, las únicas veces que he estado bajo -0 fue en los páramos de Mérida en Venezuela y fueron dos dias son poder dormir, sin embargo también quiero volver jejeje.
Lo que más me gustó fue que durmieran con los gatitos @lauramica 🥰🥰
Es genial que acamparas en este lugar, definitivamente, hacía mucho frío ahí. Por suerte, esos gatitos las acompañaron y les dieron calor 😅. Es extraordinario conocer todos estos sitios, la naturaleza nunca deja de sorprendernos, solo debemos estar en modo contemplación.
