Throughout this journey I met many travellers like me, who supported their trips financially in different ways. As we all work in exchange for accommodation, it is necessary to have other sources of income to keep moving from place to place. Most of the travellers I met earned their income from selling handicrafts or street art, but during my trip to Esquel I met a new photographer friend. We spent a month together as volunteers and organised our home office afternoons, while I wrote for my blog and he edited his photos of music concerts 😃.
A lo largo de todo este viaje me crucé con muchos viajeros como yo, que sostenían económicamente sus paseos de distintas formas. Como todos nosotros trabajamos a cambio del alojamiento, es necesario contar con otras fuentes de ingresos para poder seguir moviéndose de un lugar a otro. La mayoría de los viajeros que conocí obtenían sus ingresos de la venta de artesanías o del arte callejero, pero durante mi viaje a Esquel conocí a un nuevo amigo fotógrafo. Con él coincidimos un mes en nuestro voluntariado y organizábamos nuestras tardes de home office, mientras yo escribía para mi blog y él editaba sus fotos de recitales de música 😃.
To date, I have already done several volunteer assignments, where I have always had to live in a hostel, sharing the space with co-workers and guests. But the arrangement we made with the people who hosted me in Esquel, the deal included living in a flat alone with my colleagues. In total, there were 5 of us living there, but as everyone had a different schedule, we rarely all crossed paths. During the week, maybe two or three times we were all tenants together 😃.
Al día de la fecha ya realicé varios voluntariados, en donde siempre había tenido que vivir en un hostel compartiendo los espacios con compañeros de trabajo y huéspedes. Pero el arreglo que hicimos con los que me recibieron en Esquel, el trato incluía vivir en un departamento solo con mis compañeros. En total, éramos 5 personas viviendo ahí, pero como cada uno tenía un horario diferente, pocas veces nos cruzamos todos. En la semana, quizás unas dos o tres veces estabamos todos los inquilinos reunidos 😃.
Like me, my new photographer friend spent many hours at the computer, editing photos so he could sell them to his clients. When I told him that my activities on this blog were a bit similar and that they were also about working with photos, we immediately organised our time so that we could do it at the same time. When you work on the computer, you can feel a bit isolated, but with this new schedule of working together we never get bored. Our dynamic was about preparing a big snack and watching series, while we moved forward with our individual work. I really enjoyed having this company and it helped me to be a bit more organised with my time during the week 😃.
Al igual que yo, mi nuevo amigo fotógrafo pasaba muchas horas en la computadora, editando fotos para luego poder venderlas a sus clientes. Cuando le dije que mis actividades en este blog eran un poco similares y que también se trataban de trabajar con fotos, enseguida organizamos nuestro tiempo para poder hacerlo al mismo tiempo. Cuando uno trabaja con la computadora, puede sentirse un poco aislado, pero con este nuevo cronograma de trabajo en conjunto nunca nos aburrimos. Nuestra dinámica se trataba de preparar una gran merienda y ver series, mientras que avanzábamos con nuestros trabajos individuales. Tener esta compañía me gustó mucho, además de servirme para ser un poco más organizada con mi tiempo durante la semana 😃.
One thing I also found it useful to have a home office partner was to get a bit more organised with my clothes. Something that happens to me when I'm at home for a long time without going out is that I spend the whole day in my sleeping clothes. It doesn't seem like it, but this creates a bit of isolation and as the days go by, it shows in the mood. Working with my partner and in a shared flat, I was ‘forced’ to prepare myself with good clothes to be in our living room. I liked to dress well for work even if it was my own temporary living quarters: taking off my trekking clothes on some days was also fine 😅.
Algo para lo que también me servía tener un compañero de home office era para organizarme un poco con mi vestimenta. Algo que me sucede cuando estoy en mi casa, mucho tiempo sin salir, es que paso todo el día con la ropa de dormir. Parece que no, pero esto genera un poco de aislamiento y con el pasar de los días, se nota en el estado de ánimo. Al trabajar con mi compañero y en un departamento compartido me veía "obligada" a tener que prepararme con buena ropa para estar en nuestro living. Me gustaba vestirme bien para trabajar aunque se tratara de mi propia vivienda temporal: sacarse la ropa de trekking algunos días también estaba bien 😅.
I really like the fact that my current economic activity is computer-based. This gives me quite a lot of flexibility in terms of schedules, and it also allows me to be almost anywhere I want to be. Having a home office partner in Esquel was a lot of fun, he even gave me the mousse I still use today. Our afternoons of work, snacks and series were very productive, just before I had to work at the hostel. Everything worked perfectly, and the days went by smoothly ❤️.
Me gusta mucho que mi actividad económica actual sea a través de la computadora. Esto me da una flexibilidad bastante alta en cuanto a horarios, además de que me permite estar en casi cualquier lugar que quiera. Tener un compañero de home office en Esquel fue muy entretenido, incluso fue él quien me regaló el mousse que uso hasta el día de hoy. Nuestras tardes de trabajo, merienda y series eran muy productivas, justo antes de que yo tuviera que cumplir mi horario de trabajo en el hostel. Todo funcionaba perfecto, y los días transcurrían tranquilamente ❤️.

Ey que bueno que hayan podido darse cuenta de que hacen algo parecido y animarse a hacer este trabajo juntos, es increible como uno puede complementarse cuando se trabaja en grupo a pesar de hacer tareas diferentes ayuda mucho a concentrarse y a mejorar los ánimos y la calidad del trabajo.
