Friends of Daily Blog, today I come to show you something beautiful that happened in my neighborhood and I am very excited. I am very happy that the municipality has decided to use this abandoned land to make a garden open to the whole community and here I will bring you my personal impression and my record of photos.

A little bit back in history this was a giant corner with a huge house, but it was abandoned and therefore usurped. This means that there was no electricity, no water, no gas, the people lived there in terrible conditions and the complaint became such that the health department decreed that they could no longer live like that, the people were evicted and the house was demolished. When the owners did not appear, nor did anyone else to claim it, and after the necessary time had elapsed, it was left as it was, green and available for the neighborhood.
Un poco atrás en la historia esto era una esquina gigante con un caserón enorme, pero estaba abandonada y por lo tanto, usurpada. Very soon the ideas of each neighbor came together. A dog kennel, a square, a promenade, or a vegetable garden. Maybe there were other projects, but these were the only ones we knew about, and a group of neighbors went there and voted for the vegetable garden project.

The municipality sent some people, who will be in charge of teaching us a little of what they know, so that we can carry out this space among all the neighbors, from watering, fertilizing, planting and harvesting each plant, learning how to treat the soil, to control pests and generate our own compost with worms, among other things.
La municipalidad envía algunas personas, que serán encargadas de enseñarnos un poco de lo que saben a nosotros, para que podamos llevar adelante este espacio entre todos los vecinos, realizando desde los riegos, el abonado, la siembra y cosecha de cada planta, conociendo cómo tratar la tierra, a controlar plagas y generar nuestro propio compost con lombrices, entre otras cosas.
So the first meeting took place, where we introduced ourselves, planted a few things, had a snack, opened the ribbon cutting with pruning shears, it was a lot of fun, and the following week we met again with the final compost bin and planted a few more things, this time in the soil.

They made a presentation of seasonal seeds and we each choose what we could take and plant at home, I chose some seeds that go into my patio and some giant sunflower seeds, which with a little sun and hope, I hope to see grow.

It is worth mentioning two things, firstly that the black compost bin was portable, it moved from its place and there was no way to anchor it or nail it to the ground, so we preferred to remove it to avoid theft, as it is only covered by a wire and a padlock. And also to highlight the planters that were installed even before the inauguration, these are made of recycled material, some are made of recycled plastic, with a very nice matrix that simulates wood. And the other one is made of tetra-brik plastic, as I understood it.
Cabe destacar dos cosas, primero que la compostera de color negro era portable, se movía de su sitio y no había manera de amurarla o clavarla al suelo, entonces preferimos quitarla para evitar robos, ya que esto solo esta cubierto por un alambre y un candado. Y también destacar los macetones que instalaron antes incluso de la inauguración, estos son realizados de material reciclado, unos son de plástico reciclado, con una matriz muy bonita que simula madera. Y el otro es plástico de tetra-brik apelmazado, según entendí.

Hola Lau, gracias! Es verdad que es una suerte para los vecinos contar con este espacio. Además todo está creciendo súper rápido, hoy se comieron una planta entera las hormigas, es difícil la parte de mantener las plagas, pero estoy segura que también vamos a aprender como lidiar con eso!
