My recent journey to the village was a week full of hardwork and memories, I traveled to the village in preparation for my late uncle's burial, My dad had already arrived directly from Abuja, while I joined him from Owerri, Imo State.
After taking public transport, I had to take a motorbike to the compound It had been so long since my last visit, but somehow, I still managed to recognize my way to the the compound, seeing my dad and relations was a very joyful moment.
Trust me I was with my phone fully charged ready to capture anything seizable, inasmuch hiveblog is concerned, On the first day my dad and I went to the village stream It was a bit far from our house, but the walk was refreshing, and the calm atmosphere of the village made the journey worthwhile, We went to wash clothes, and I took some pictures of the people swimming in the stream.
It was nice to see life in its simplest form, The next day, we focused on working around the compound We were in the process of fencing it our house, and it turned out to be much more physically demanding than I had anticipated funny enough I ended up working like a bricklayer, Fetching water for the work was another episode, as I had to journey quite a distance just to get water. Despite the hard labor I was very happy to contribute to the preparations for the burial of my late uncle.
By the fourth day, I woke up feeling a bit off and afraid I was noticed that My face was swollen but I refuse to give it a deep thinking I concluded probably it's from eating too much oily rice the night before.
I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but it was a reminder to watch what I eat, work continued and we were determined to finish the tasks we had set out to do, I got an injury during the process, but work must still move on.
On the fifth day we started wrapping things up We has visit some relatives to exchange condolences It was a bittersweet experience catching up with family and reflecting on the reason for our visit After the visit, we began preparing for our departure, knowing that our stay in the village were coming to a close, I have to take a hair cut since I will be returning back to the city,
the barber guy did a very nice job, which I paid him awesomely for the job well done, Finally, on Day 6 I made my way back to Owerri to continue with school,
My dad on the other hand, left for Abuja, As I traveled back I couldn’t help but reflect on the memories of the past few days working, reconnecting with family, and being part of something bigger than myself It was a journey full of hard work, meaningful moments, and a deeper connection with my roots and background.
