Monumental Stadium of Maturín || Estadio Monumental de Maturín

Since 2007, the Monumental Stadium of Maturín has been an imposing beautification to the west of the capital of the State of Monagas. From the highway it can be easily spotted, and when approaching it in the vehicle you can see the well thought out design that it exhibits. And when you enter it you can perceive an imposing admiration.

Desde el 2007, el Estadio Monumental de Maturín embellece de forma imponente el oeste de la capital del Estado Monagas. Desde la autopista puede divisarse con facilidad, y al acercarse en el vehículo se puede ver el diseño bien pensando que exhibe. Y al entrar a él se puede percibir una admiración imponente.

The design of this stadium is reminiscent of the one used in England, where the spectator is very close to the playing field. However, we can see that we are not in Europe when there is a carpet fence between the fan and the player. Still, you can feel the action on the pitch up close.

It is one of the largest capacity venues in the country, as it can play host to more than 51,000 souls. Few venues can boast that number. However, the roof does not cover all the seats. Only those in the upper half will have a better chance of shade and shelter from the rain. However, in the grandstands behind the arcades they have a privileged position in front of both natural elements.

El diseño de éste estadio recuerda el que es utilizado en Inglaterra, donde el espectador está muy cerca del campo de juego. Sin embargo, podemos ver que no estamos en Europa cuando existe una cerca de alfajol entre el aficionado y el jugador. Con todo, puede sentirse muy de cerca la acción en el terreno de juego.

Es uno de los aforos más grandes del país, puesto que puede servir de anfitrión a más de 51.000 almas. Pocos recintos puedes jactarse de ése número. Sin embargo, el techo no cubre todos los asientos. Sólo los de la mitad superior tendrán mejor opción a la sombra y al resguardo de la lluvia. Sin embargo, en las tribunas detrás de las arquerías tienen una posición privilegiada ante ambos elementos naturales.

The venue has two large LED screens at each end of the field. Their elevated position means that everyone can have a clear view of some of them, even if that means focusing on the one furthest away. In addition, it has a system of horns arranged strategically. The fact that the sound is dispersed from the top down ensures good acoustics for the audience. So by having both systems in optimal conditions, it is also expected that our senses have optimal stimuli.

El recinto cuenta con dos grandes pantallas led cada extremo del campo de juego. Su posición elevada hace de que todos puedan tener visión clara a algunas de ellas, aunque eso implique enfocar a la que está más lejos. Además, cuenta con un sistema de cornetas dispuestas de forma estratégica. El hecho de que el sonido se dispersa desde arriba hacia abajo garantiza la buena acústica para los asistentes. De modo que al disponer de ambos sistemas en óptimas condiciones, es de esperar también de que nuestros sentidos tengan estímulos óptimos.

Seen from above, one can notice the oval design of the stadium, conveniently molded to the size of the playing field. Incidentally, the turf is meticulously cared for. Apart from taking care of it for uses other than sports, the hot city of Maturín brings with it the challenge of protecting it from the sun and humidity. The irrigation system, activated at the time of this visit to the field, shows that they are working to protect this valuable asset as well as possible.

Visto desde arriba se puede notar el diseño ovalado que tiene el estadio, moldeándose convenientemente a las medidas del campo de juego. Por cierto, el engramado es objeto de cuidado minucioso. Aparte de cuidarlo para usos diferentes al deportivo, la calurosa ciudad de Maturín trae consigo el desafío de protegerla ante el sol y la humedad. El sistema de riego, activado al momento de hacer ésta visita al campo, demuestra que se está poniendo manos a la obra para proteger éste valioso activo lo mejor posible.

The seats are made of sturdy plastic, which has recently been maintained. In addition, in the area behind the goals, they were all removed, and the area was painted to maintain the aesthetics of the place. The comfort stays at home, and the important thing is the show you came to see. You don't expect to be in the place for several hours, so the simple seating does the job.

Obviously there are privileged sections in the seating area. On the third floor is the broadcast area, where journalists do their work, plus simple balcony offices for about 90 people at each end. With more restricted internal access, this level also has administrative offices. On the fourth floor, the highest, it is easy to see the open boxes with a privileged view of the field and more comfortable and upholstered seats.

Los asientos son de un plástico resistente, y que recientemente le han hecho mantenimiento. Además, en el área detrás de las porterías se procedió a retirarlos todos, y con pintura adecuada se maquilló ésa área para que pudiera seguir manteniendo al estética del lugar. La comodidad se queda en casa, y lo importante es el espectáculo que se vino a ver. No se espera estar varias horas en el lugar, por lo que los asientos sencillos hacen el trabajo.

Obviamente hay secciones privilegiadas en la zona de asientos. En el tercer piso está la zona de transmisiones, donde los periodistas hacen su trabajo, además de unas sencillas oficinas con balcón para unas 90 personas en cada extremo. Con un acceso interno más restringido, también ese nivel tiene oficinas administrativas. En el cuarto piso, el más elevado, son fáciles de divisar los palcos abiertos que tienen una visión privilegiada al campo y con asientos más cómodos y tapizados.

Para ser anfitrión de tanta gente no se puede sacrificar la seguridad. Por eso, ésta importante infraestructura cuenta con un amplio acceso a las gradas mediante amplias rampas. Las entradas son también de un ancho considerable para que el flujo de personas sea fluido. Las buenas señalizaciones juegan un papel importante para que no nos perdamos tan fácilmente y caminemos de forma innecesaria, ya que por dentro, en la zona debajo de las gradas, los espacios son muy parecidos entre sí.

Desde el estacionamiento se puede acceder con vehículos y hasta buses hasta dentro del estadio, el cual cuenta con una especie de amplios túneles para transito vehicular en planta baja. Desde allí, acceder al terreno de juego es muy sencillo. Además, mediante un ascensor interno se puede ir fácilmente al piso 3 y el piso 4.

En vista de todo lo descrito, su tamaño, secciones, características, facilidades y fama, el Estadio Monumental de Maturín ha servido para eventos deportivos, políticos, musicales y religiosos, y cuenta con una referencia más que conocida para los orientales.
