Hello Hive friends! I have been constantly sharing about churches, cathedrals and banks but this time I will talk about something different. The Galerias Pacifico building is a shopping mall, very famous for how immensely big it is, covering almost an entire block that borders Florida, Viamonte, San Martin and Cordoba avenues.

A shopping building in which it is common for upper middle and upper class people to visit with a large number of stores and which I had not planned to do a post about, but I came across the building when I was passing by and I thought it would be interesting to share content about this building and what it meant over the years.

The building was built in the XIX century by the architect Roland Le Vacher and for many years has had multiple uses ranging from the headquarters of the museum of fine arts, worked the offices of the Buenos Aires railroad, hotels, cultural centers, education centers and finally became a shopping center.

The building has a neo-Renaissance style architecture that was directed by the engineer Emilio Agrelo. It has an area of 52,000 square meters and has 3 floors. The style of this building was strongly influenced by the great and famous European galleries.

The interior of the building is something extraordinary in relation to all the luxurious details that are there, its walls, ceilings and all the ornaments that can be seen, suggests that it is a shopping center that is mostly frequented by people of very high social and economic class.

I do not frequent this kind of places, not because of economic classes or purchasing power but because I consider that there are more important places to which to dedicate time, in that sense I prefer to go to a natural space than to a place like this because for me it does not mean much but for other people it does.

Inside each place there is a story to tell, between each wall or wall is anchored experiences and is that there is a rather curious story with this building... According to sources during the government of the 1970s and 1980s, this place was used as a clandestine center for torture, detention and extermination, which strictly fulfilled its function.

One of the stories in relation to the aforementioned comes from a victim who was a photographer and while working in its basements he relived the events he went through during the 1970s.

One of the things I love about this community is that in my case it has led me to address concepts of architecture that I did not know, thus causing an immediate learning of various topics because for me it is essential to know about everything around me, however they say that he lives happier who knows less.... Even so, I take the risk😊.

I hope you have an excellent day and a good start of the week.

I agree with you, natural spaces grab my attention the most.... 😁 But I must tell you that the roof of this place is simply spectacular.... It left me spellbound! 🤩

Me dejó embelesada! 🤩

Thank you very much friend! The whole entire building is impressive but yes the roof is stunning ❣️.

Muchas gracias amiga!

This is the first time that I have had a glimpse of a mall in your country and what I love about it is that its structure is very classic.

This is the first mall of which I talk about, I don't usually visit these places much 😄 it's very interesting what this building has gone through over the years and it's also interesting what happened inside there more than 40 years ago.
