Cousin Brenton's Church - the final touch

I shared with you the story of my cousin Brenton's MODEL of a CHURCH that he designed and built after stumbling across the ruins of a church on an old farm in the Eastern Cape.

A reminder to never underestimate the endurance of the human spirit as my talented cousin was diagnosed with a form of autism.
Various child psychologists said he would never be able to function normally; Brenton proved them wrong as he not only developed social skills, but also learned to read and write, despite the massive challenges someone with autism faces, and that is all thanks to the faith and determination of his amazing parents as well as his own inner strength and amazing intuition.

These are just some of the skills he mastered, in the words of his father:

  • Woodwork, fine or rough;
  • Electrical self-help and installations as per his own sketches;
  • Auto mechanics as per social media self-help;
  • Excellent auto body repairs as well as spray work with high pressure equipment.
  • Reading and writing despite the professional naysayers.
  • Budgeting for his own needs from a government disability grant.

I will show you two collages of images I showed previously of the unpainted church and the interior; everything made to scale!

Painting - the final touch before completion of any building.

Brenton's project was far from over; much to my surprise, as the church still had to be painted.

A church building is a place of worship and to create a tranquil environment the architect would choose white or neutral pastel shades with white wall trimmings.

Brenton's church roof is painted grey and the walls a soft lemon with white reliefs around the windows and doors and the base was painted to depict a stone wall; he instinctively knew which colours to use.

Brenton recreated the church which he saw in ruins perfectly. This building is reminiscent of a more genteel era and reminds me of the quaint old church in which we used to worship many many moons ago.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the completion of Brenton's project, although I won't be surprised if he decides to paint the furnishings that are inside the church :)

Thank you for your thoughtful comments always @sahiba-rana, hope you're keeping well too:)

WoW the intricate detail that has gone into this model is fantastic. At first glance I thought it was a real large building only to he disproved.

But the design of this model is fantastic!

That's why I asked Brenton to take photos of it standing on the lawn! It apparently is quite heavy, needs two men to carry it, stand around 80cm high!
It is a beautiful miniature architectural masterpiece, glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your nice comments @melbourneswest.

Thank you @ricardomello, it is amazing what these special people can do! Thank you for sharing that, it's most interesting.
I've always believed that my cousin must have Aspergers as he can socialize and also has these amazing skills, but back in the day they did not know much about Autism.

I hope he can explode his skill to the top! The support of family and friends is always a beautiful thing, thanks for sharing @lizelle

The details of the the church interior is superb.. I wonder what is going on in his mind as he made the process of building this house. Brilliant!
