The Year in Review

in Creative Coin5 years ago

Remember how back in the summer, I commented about how fast time was going? Yeah, now we are looking at December. Time sure flew by this year. A lot of it was because of how busy things were. Or, I could be experiencing some sort of temporal phenomenon. Regardless, it's about this time of year that many people reflect on what they did. I will likewise do the same.

Achievements

Back to the gym

The biggest change I made this year was going back to the gym. Granted, I only restarted this past September, but I could already tell the difference. At the time of the writing, I go there about twice during my off week and once during my on week. I work a 7-on-7-off schedule for those who don't know.

I hit a rough patch in life back in 2016 and I didn't bother work out or keep healthy physical habits for years. So, going back to the gym is an accomplishment in my book.

Financial goals

The other major thing this year was working towards a better financial position. I have reached my goal for the year when it comes to the amount of money put aside into various investments. It's hard to not have the mindset that I want to see more "cash" in the bank account. But, I had to remind myself that anything more than your year worth of emergency funds is losing value.

I have also cut down the amount of money I spent eating out by more than half. Several hundred dollars a year may seem inconsequential in the grand scheme. But, that money can translate to things that could benefit you long term. At the very least, you could at least treat yourself to something nicer.

On Steem

What's a Steem post not talking about Steem? I became a dolphin earlier this year. I am almost at 10K SP. At what point do I stop? I don't know. I figured I would set aside liquid funds for when the time is right for selling. Will the network die a slow and painful death or continue the oscillation? We will find out in the next year or two.

Other than that, I had a good time mingling with the remaining active communities on the network. It's a great time to make connections and do, you know, social things.

Failures

Better contact with family

Many of us most likely don't deal with extended family. I do and I did not do a good job keeping up with them this year. I'm lucky if I even made contact with them once a month. I know everyone has their own lives and whatnot to worry about. But, it's always nice to hear from those you care and check in on them.

I'm at a point in life where I am counting down the days when I would see or hear from the elders of the family. It would be a shame to receive a call one day about their passing only to realize I haven't talked to them for a long time.

Should have sold more LTCs

Remember how LTC went over $100 this year? I only sold a part of my holdings that I got when it was around $30 last year. I guess it's the greed in me that's speaking, but it does feel bad that I didn't take more profit. Well, hindsight is 20/20, so I should be glad with what I got out of it.

On Steem

I've told myself at one point to never start drama and only sit in the background. Well, that didn't work out. That's evident by the number of drama tokens I have gotten. There aren't that many, but those were genuine dramatic moments. In truth, I would rather be amicable to most people, but that was not how things played out.

Then again, it's the internet. Who cares?

         Moving on to 2020.

Good achievements this year. Another achievement could be you have written more posts that previous year. 😉

Better contact with family

I am also guilty of this.

Wishing you a very happy new year. 😁

Have I actually posted more or just commented more?

Anyways, hope you have a happy New Year as well!

I think both. Thanks man. :)

Going back to the gym is surely an achievement and you did it before the cliche new year time too.

I did that myself in the past year and it's been a game changer for sure. 2019 looks pretty good for ya. Congrats.

Thanks man! It’s definitely been worth it.

Oh nice one! The going to the gym is one I would like to do as well, but at this point I have no clue how I can manage to do so. First reason, I don't think it fits the tight budget we are on at the moment (should be better very soon) but second, my daughter is constantly ill, so I'd have to go in the evenings when bf is home, instead of mornings when she's at school (and what I prefer when exercising as it will improve how I feel all day ..

Great of you that you managed to do so! I will aim for me to follow that example asap, luckily the first step of getting healthier has been accomplished when I quit smoking :)

I am lucky that the gym at work is free for employees.

Again, kudos to you for quit smoking.

Ah, that helps indeed! I would have to pay like 18 bucks I think but it's like 2 mins walk and open 24 hours a day. So I seriously consider to do so in a while, but only if I can extend per month (which I expect how it works here, because many people are living here short periods only).I've made these commitments before in my life, paying a year, while going a few times ugh.. dont want that :)

I've made these commitments before in my life, paying a year

That's how they make money. They know you won't be there often unless you are committed.

Do some research before typing out ignorance.

wtf you talking about?

My last Post has been wrongfully Targeted with Down Voter Abuse...

It doesn't seem like it has been, you used a bid bot, they used their stake to downvote because they disagree with buying votes.

DPOS working as intended.

If they had checked my last ten or twenty posts, they would have seen a Clear Picture... I was experimenting... I don't think buying a few 70 Cent Up-Votes is misuse... Five Bid Bot Posts out of over 900 Posts isn't Abuse in my Opinion... I've always been against them myself, along with Delegating for Profit... They should have check out more of my Posts, and they would have clearly seen, I don't misuse Bots... Check the Post in Question... It will be the last I ever post...
