Else it will hunt us...
Finally, the rituals were completed yesterday. The day began early in the morning, visited the temple after bathe to bring the holy water. After a long time, I went to this temple. I remember, it started with very small temple, the ones that shows up inside in the photos below. This place has grown a lot since then. Inquired a bit about things happening there - now every evening, there is a session reading and discussing the Bhagavad Gita, something that everyone should read. I have a wish to read it myself. These rituals realizes us the true meaning of life - nothing is forever.
And then pluck some flowers from our garden - we need flower every day and we maintain several trees, that would give flowers in all seasons most likely. Plucking flower is a very old practice which has its own advantages. In villages, people go very early in the morning and it exposes them to the most needed vitamin that is essential to immunity - Vitamin D - the only source of which is sunlight. With the City life culture, this is fading away and more and more people are diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency.
And finally to the fish market in our local. As it was a Friday, I did not get what I wanted, but still brought, because as a tradition, we must eat. Wednesday / Sunday are the ones on which most people eat. Other days of the week are treated as sacred and most people stay away from non-veg.
And the food to the soul - it's believed the spirit comes and accepts our offerings and do not trouble anyone after this day. May the soul rest in peace.
Hello @sanjeevm, the ritual of plucking flowers is rather interesting. I once heard about praying before plucking to ask permission from the plant and washing it for the offering. We have a hibiscus shrub at home and have always stared at it with the desire to pluck its flowers. I might do that walking barefoot on the grass one morning. Have a lovely weekend!
Well, we have that, but that is only if you are plucking flower at the night. It's believed that we should not hurt the tree after evening - be it any tree. So if for some reason, one needs to pluck flower after evening, then they should take permission. With time, these values are fading. And walking barefoot on the grass has lot of health advantage.
It's interesting to learn about traditions and rituals, thanks for sharing that. I like walking barefoot on the grass..trying to do it whenever possible. Have a great week

India has interesting cultures. Thanks for sharing :)
As a Buddhist, when my grandmom died, I saw very similar rituals being followed.
I think Hinduism and Buddhism have a lot in common.
May the departed soul rest in peace 🙏
Great post @sanjeevm and this ritual happens in my place as well once in a year. It's called SHRADH here and similar activities are performed. Hope you had a great day. Namaste 🙏
This statement is very true. I also believe in this. Lot's of people think all about physical things these days. But these kinds of rituals are very good for our mentality. We need to understand that everything is not here to stay with us. We should have the strength to control ourselves even we lose anything.
I take this opportunity to wish you a beautiful Sunday and a happy start to the weekExcellent post dear friend @sanjeevm very interesting what you let us know. I love reading the things you say about your culture. I appreciate you very much
Sorry for your loss and condolences to the family. May the soul RIP
Oh cool that’s a nice post but why do you do these rituals?
