Cryptocurrency: What Is Driving You Other Than The Money

Cryptocurrency is offering life changing money to everyone. It is a situation where those who are dedicated, take the time to learn, put forth the effort, and operate on a long term basis, they will reach financial freedom.

Since it is a guarantee IF people do that, what else is there? What is driving you?

In this video I talk about the opportunity before us, on a much greater scale than just the money. It is important that people find it within themselves to determine what makes this a vocation (in a loving manner).

Your baseball example reminds me of the movie Major League. There was a character - the catcher, but I don't remember his name - who was rich and comfortable and he was only playing for the money. He had long ago given up caring about the game and didn't want to get injured by putting forth any effort. Only when the team was motivated to win because they found out they were all hired on purpose to make the team lose so they wanted to win out of spite, did he start taking risks and played a lot better game. Bit of a tangent there, but that's what I thought of! LOL

You're right though and honestly, when I talk about Hive to people, do you know what interests people? It's when I say something like, "my vote is now worth 20 cents." Because I'm explaining how me pressing that button as you say, is dropping money on people, and if I keep building my account and/or the price goes up, maybe I'll start dropping dollars on people just for what is essentially a "like." My friends will say, "I want to mutual aid the people!!" This is why I'm kind of the lefty advocate for blockchain. Soooooooooo many people who align with me on many social issues have read some hit piece either just mocking crypto, or the electricity use of Bitcoin, or how it's all greedy Lambo-bros, or some ish and they have it in their head that it's just Wall Street on your laptop ...especially when big corporations started getting interested in Bitcoin. When I try to explain to them that a) all crypto is not Bitcoin, and b) how Hive specifically works, I do get some concessions, like, "OK, I'm not against people helping each other to survive." Like, yeah. That's what we're doing here, or at least some of us are trying to. I'd like to live in the Star Trek future where all our needs are met without money too, but we're not going to get there tomorrow or give up all means of exchange next week. At least this way, people are earning - without having to invest first - and can have the freedom to do so in a multitude of ways, without having to abide by some crappy corporate culture or engage in degrading work or morally distasteful work. It can be a freedom for many who currently don't have that. Homemakers can earn doing their day to day stuff just by sharing a recipe or their gardening tips or their needlework, when that work is normally unpaid. Artists/writers/photographers can earn instead of just being promised "exposure." Poor disabled people like me who can't work a regular job anymore can earn by blogging and rambling on about philosophy and healing. And if you are comfortable enough that you don't need the earnings, you can decline payment or burn it or give it to someone else who does or just stake it and upvote people. Would you rather earn for you and your friends and other individuals, or for Facebook and Twitter?

And frankly, I'd much rather vote for a witness who is a member of the community than pay fees to some massive bank. You don't get to vote on who your bank's board members are. You get to vote on who the witnesses are here!

It was actually the 3rd Baseman who had that outlook. Dorn was the character's name.

You are right. The industry is so focused upon the money, the message is missing. That is why the "testimonials" about how Hive is changing people's lives is important. We need to keep driving this point home to people.

Yes! Thank you, you're right. The catcher is the one who had the love interest story.

The technology. By following along with the crypto space, we should see the world in a way that becomes more digital. Before the mainstream press went on about NFTs, they were already being used here. Some of the largest technological developments are starting directly on the crypto space.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I share this love of technology. I really believe that learning new things keeps our brains young, and that cryptocurrency is a combination of new history, new vocabulary and new math, which helps keep our minds young.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is interesting how that happens. We have some terrific developers in crypto, one who would be paid big dollars if they were working for big tech companies or major corporations.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I focus on a strategic approach. Especially because I might not be able to be in Hive all the time, I want to put in as much effort as I can now. When I will go to my heath recovery, I will be missing for maybe 1 month from here. Crypto is a good investment. Hive is offering this free opportunity for us. Airdrops also. Blockchain games, as well. I can only be grateful for that.

Thank you for this video and for opening this discussion for us!

I am learning, after 50 days in Hive I am still learning so many things.

Good luck on your recovery.

Yes it is a continual learning process. I am nearing 4 years here and still learning a great deal about what this all is about.

It is wonderful to watch others grow and their accounts get larger.

Keep filling those bags. The nice thing is if you have your account using hive.vote and following someone, they can vote for you while you are away. That way you still get your curation.

So you will be earning money while gone.

I have a curation trail there if you want to follow me while you are away.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you so much. I will follow you starting next week when I finish most of my freelancing projects. Can I know its name and how many % should I put to go to the curation trail. I am new but I hope I will make it right.

After 5 years in this community I'm still learning stuff.. :P

geez times flies, thanks for making me feel old :P

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

lol. yeah.. 20 years ago feels like 10 years ago.. Time is a weird thing.

And it only seems to accelerate the older we get.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I definitely feel that time acceleration phenomenon!

Hive Academy!
Yey!

I’m just here for the memes.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That can be very motivating.

Some people will run through a wall for a meme.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

😃😂

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The memes are definitely fun.

Innovation.

I like that I can come into an ecosystem and literally pioneer a previously non-existent financial vehicle or business model that is agnostic to border, location or government.

While I'm not sure everyone understands the rush an inventor gets when they realize something they have dreamed up is feasible, it's unparalleled .

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I get that. When I write a good article I am frequently researching a topic I think I know, but I need to know more to write on it with authority. When I finish the article I feel smarter, but also it brings me pleasure to produce a really good story with carefully crafted words and explaining something complex in common terms. It is even more rewarding to have people enjoy what you wrote.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Knowing everything on a topic is very rare and reserved to academics, the creator or those working close to it for long periods of time. Certainly a part enjoyable of writing on a subject or doing a deep dive is greatly expanding your own understandings internal model and it's fidelity within your mind.

To write with true authority on a matter is something rare these days sadly, and unless an individual is knowingly casting info out there without the full scope or situation being portrayed.. Most try to avoid this though I think, personally have in the past made assumptions out of a lack of understanding come through in writing only to feel like a jackass upon realizing an incomplete understanding skewed analysis.

Never expect anyone to like or loathe what gets written, if it happens it happens and shouldn't be taken as gospel. Everything we write here has eyes on it and through this it has some form of power beyond just some random bytes in a string.

That is an awesome outlook and one that makes a lot of sense to me, even as a non developer. It is about being a part of something bigger.

The idea is to become part of a movement. This is how we can get out from under the government control.

If it is all about the money, we are actually playing into their hands.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

"The idea is to become part of a movement."

Generally try to aim somewhere between the butterfly effect and just creating movements out of what needs adjusted... or for an experiment. Money is nice to have as with enough of it, you effectively relieve some stresses, but it's not the core driving force at least in my case.

You don't have to be a developer to see a good idea or concept and get behind it, ultimately it's the user that decides what flourishes or fails in a market, the user, community, market and/or consumer has the power.

having fun with the crypto peeps basically, and the gamification of money is also fun, you can't play with fiat the same way you can with crypto

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is a very valid point.

The gamification of money (magic internet money some are calling it) is driving home how money is not real. It is truly a made up concept.

Yet because our society is structured upon it, and most of us ended up exchanging out time for it, that made it extremely real.

With crypto, people are playing. Thus, to them they can do things they werent doing with fiat.

It is an interesting twist to watch.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The community and everything that comes with it.

That means the knowledge, the information, and why not, the fun that you get from being around people with similar interests and willing to work for a common goal.

I could take a bunch of traditional courses that would cost me a lot of money and I believe I still wouldn't learn half the things I've been learning here about crypto, finance, technology, and a lot of other subjects. My life has changed a good bit and I've been around for 4 months only. I can only imagine how it's going to be in a few years from now.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is true. For me it is the fact we are making a difference. When we do give an upvote to someone in a poor nation, that helps them out.

At the same time, when we encourage people to keep at it, to follow the path to success, and get involved, it is done so with the intention of helping them make it to a much higher level.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is limited and it is safer than fiat money.

How is it limited?

There is actually unlimited amounts of crypto that can be created.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Bitcoin is limited.

The knowledge, which is also to get the money. So money lol.. let's follow each other. Thanks ❤️

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Let us be honest. Money, money, money.

And that is what seems to be driving everything.

Yet it is also the stumbling block.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

i think we discussed this vaguely yesterday on leomarkettalk.
i see things from this point of view: you can care about money and not make it your priority. i want to make money here but I know what I have to do to get it--add value to the ecosystem by creating, engaging, etc

we have heard this a couple of times, 'we came for the money but stayed for the community.' I love this place. it has done a lot for me and I am forever indebted, this is how I feel. and I want to do my best to help and contribute to its success.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think being part of something new helping it succeed is more important than the money side. I believe money is already there for most of us even if we don't even know it yet. We just have to help projects grow as that is how futures are changed not only for us but those who are still coming.

Freedom, idea, technology!

I got involved in all of this when they paid me in BTC back in 2012.
I was curious to learn more about how it works, so I decided to find a way to cash out. Exchanged 20 BTC for $5 each and played with the rest here and there. Eventually I've spent all of them, but got super interested...
Started to find new cryptos and new ways to earn them (i'm not an investor ;) )
Then I found THIS blockchain, which replaced for me all the faucets, scammy games and virtual miners :)
Since then this place is my home for crypto and community connection!

THANKS, folks! :)

ps. Yeah, they told me to HODL, but I prefer to play around and have fun! :)

Soon after I joined Steem, I added this in the about field:

Believer in revolutionary applications of blockchain, and cryptos value as a consequence.

While the price of crypto can pump or dump for no apparent reason, as in all markets, I still highly believe in that statement, after more than 4 years.

I'm here primarily for the innovation and disruptions they cause / will cause, and which are needed for the entire society to evolve.

But there is money on me what imposes me is the fight for freedom. To avoid the censorship and oppression of the false democracies in which we live, where the game is rigged so that it seems that everything changes and yet everything remains the same.

So the wave of people really driven in crypto for more of the foundational reasons aren't here. Or i don't yet see them.

There are a few but I think you are correct. Most of them have gone on or gone underground.

Either way, they are not around each day.

Those early Bitcoin adopters were all about the cause. They were advocates of it and were going to either be successful or go down with the ship; no in between. It was a movement to them.

We dont have that feel anymore. I wasnt around in the early days but that is the sense I get from reading and researching about the early days.

I think it is something that we need to recapture. Those who were calling for Wall Street to enter, which many were doing on here 2-3 years ago, were only looking at the money they could make. They wanted their holdings to moon in spite of what it did to the movement.

Bitcoin is no longer in the hands of the people; it is now Wall Streets toy.
