When the rains come, the forests of Costa Rica are filled with a large number of species of fungi of various sizes and colors. Some of them are highly poisonous, others hallucinogens, but a large amount are edible to humans. This is the case with Laccaria amethystina, a beautiful purple fungus that grows in clumps on the forest floor. The image was made in San Gerardo de Dota, whose high-altitude forests and oak groves are ideal for the development of this species.
That is quite a bright purple color. Make for a great addition in a salad!
A biology partner who specializes in mushrooms, she used to collect various edible mushrooms during field trips, and prepare them in different recipes such as soups, salads or with meats. I loved the texture, but not all flavors were good.
Very cool.

Thanks. Ok, I'll follow your recommendation with community topics, I didn't really know how it worked, I stopped posting for about a year and I'm updating myself with all the changes.
Great macro perspective of this gorgeous purple mushroom.
