Brand new Irie music for the weary soul

in ReggaeJAHM4 years ago

Greetings ReggaeJAHM!!

Last night my man and I were chillin in the house, kids in bed and just looking to relax on a Saturday night. @dmilliz had made this great post across the world from me in Japan, just sharing his heart and doing so in a way that resonated with both of us here in the Appalachians.

you can read it here ~ https://peakd.com/hive-183952/@dmilliz/the-day-that-was-new-concious-reggae-by-akae-beka-and-chronixx-anthony-b

~ and along with reading the words of wisdom and self -reflection, we listened to the two songs he shared, both of which I highly recommend (go read his post, seriously!!).

As I recently mentioned I am really digging for new reggae music that touches me like the classics, and my creator has heard my request.

I was unfamiliar with Leno Banton but he put out a new video this weekend less than a day before I saw it, which popped up as a suggestion on the youtube.

My brothers and sisters, I am very excited to share this song with you. It's called Reborn and it touches all the right places in what we all are going through right now in these times of uncertainty and struggle.

The whole song is heartfelt, and full of self-reflection on the past year of hardships and looking to move forward in transformative ways. The melodic flow of his rhymes along with the musical sound invokes peace and balance, and in the heavy hearts we all are working to lighten especially.

Here's just a few of the lyrics:

"...sometime getting on my feelings, cause life be so unfair for it..."

"...you get a lot of shit when you future that bright but God keep me upright, the breeze to the kite..."

"...wait til you see me transform, 2021, from the cocoon reborn..."

"..shoot for the stars my bro, make your best moves my sis.."

"...detach myself from anything that no longer serve me..."

You can listen on spotify here:

The video is nice too, its real and not all the glitz and glamour. Leno is showing his true self and his own life and that really appeals to me as well.

It's gonna be one of my irie jams from now til I can no longer hear.

As always, remember to

Nice tune

Thanks! I have listened to it probably 40-50 times since I posted this. I really get into music and when I find something that touches me like this one did, I want to soak it up!

What a powerful song and you can feel the pain and yet the positive mindset. He also has a nice smooth voice. Nice find.

And so true about the people wearing masks and not being themselves, only will suffocate them. I hope for a world where we don't have to do that anymore. I'm myself a very open person and share a lot of myself with the world and it's bitten me in the ass a couple of times now, but I still believe in goodness in people, even if it is a few I can trust.

I can relate, there have been times when being closed off or selfish would have saved me some pain and suffering... but in the larger picture I am grateful for choosing to stay open and sharing. It makes for better emotional, mental, and spiritual health, and it helps others to choose the same.

My favorite lyrics are from a Jimi Hendrix song, If 6 was 9. It says "I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to." At the end of this journey, I want to be able to feel accountable for all my actions, and that means being myself, and choosing love. <3

Same. I want to be myself and I want people to learn from me as I am learning from others, so that's why I share a lot and also to connect with people and find common ground.

So my brother introduced me to Jimi Hendrix, but it was to listen to how Hendrix played the guitar, so I never really listened to the lyrics 🙈. I'll definitely check out those songs again.

You found a good gem with this one! I had it on repeat 🔂! Never heard of Leno , so thanks for the intro! This is one of many Dancehall Reggae gems that don’t get the play they deserve but in due time. I like when he says he is still gonna put in the work even if people don’t see! Vulnerable and heartsong lyrics!

And big ups fir the mention 😉
