This will be the last visit to the Legal Wall of Rouen in Montreal in 2024. The days were much shorter and the nights were getting colder. And this was felt on the works produced under the viaduct. This post summarizes my last two morning bike rides to work in November. I'm not equipped to continue this activity in winter. I'm impressed by those who still cycle with all this snow. It's true that the city gives priority to clearing the snow from the bike paths downtown. Even so...
Cela va être la dernière visite au Mur Légal de Rouen à Montréal en 2024. Les journées étaient beaucoup plus courtes et les nuits commençaient à être froide. Et cela se ressentait sur les oeuvres produites sous le viaduc. Ce post résume mes deux derniers passages au mois de novembre en vélo le matin pour aller au travail. Je ne suis pas équipé pour continuer cette activité l'hiver. Je suis impressionné par ceux qui font encore du vélo avec toute cette neige. Il est vrai que la ville déneige en priorité les pistes cyclables au centre ville. Même avec cela, chapeau bas...
As you'll see, the works are much simpler, not easy to paint when it's cold out. From left to right, we find Valérie Delvoye,next an unknown artist for this strange portrait in red tones, then black and white lettering, and finally Blast.
Comme vous allez le constater, les oeuvres sont beaucoup plus simples, pas évident de peindre quand le froid se fait sentier. On retrouve de gauche à droite Valérie Delvoye, un artiste inconnu pour ce drôle de portrait dans les tons rouges, puis un lettrage en noir et blanc, et enfin Blast.

Since autumn, Montreal artist Valérie Delvoye has left several portraits and animals in a realistic style at the Legal Wall de Rouen, see her mouse in StreetArt #727. On the other hand, I have no idea who this portrait is, a slightly unstructured Mona Lisa. Although it's not the first time I've seen this style on these walls.
Depuis l'automne, Valérie Delvoye, artiste de Montréal, a laissé au Mur Légal de Rouen plusieurs portraits et animaux dans un style réaliste, voir sa souris dans StreetArt #727. Par contre, je n'ai aucune idée de qui est ce portrait, une Mona Lisa un peu déstructuré. Bien que ce n'est pas la première fois que j'aperçois ce style sur ces murs.
As I said in the introduction, activity was beginning to slow down, Valérie's portrait was still there the following week. A rare occurrence on a sunny day. Only the lettering had changed, with Hick and a stencil done by StreetFunk aka Stefan Leblanc, a Montreal artist.
Je vous le disais en introduction l'activité commençait à ralentir, le portrait de Valérie était encore présent la semaine suivante. Chose plutôt rare dans les beaux jours. Seuls les lettrages avaient changé avec Hick et un pochoir de StreetFunk aka Stefan Leblanc, artiste montréalais.

A little further on, the Jason done by Deps was still clearly visible, just a layer of letterings had obliterated the works of Ensor and Joe Beer, see StreetArt #757.
Un peu plus loin sous le viaduc, le Jason de Deps était encore bien visible, juste une couche de lettrages ont effacé les oeuvres de Ensor et Joe Beer, voir StreetArt #757.
EkSept
We cross Rue de Rouen to admire some lettering by EkSept, a Montreal-based writer whose work I particularly enjoy. He always writes the same letters, but always in a different style, always sophisticated and clean.
Nous traversons la rue de Rouen pour admirer un lettrage de EkSept, un writer basé à Montréal dont j'apprécie particulièrement son travail. Il écrit toujours les mêmes lettres mais toujours dans un style différent, toujours recherché et propre.
For the rest of the second wall, there was some lettering by unknown artists, some of it interesting, which I'll share with you. But we could see the Cold Season of StreetArt coming to Montreal... / FR : Pour la suite du second mur, il y avait quelques lettrages d'artistes inconnus, certains étaient intéressants que je vous partage. Mais on voyait venir la Saison Froide du StreetArt sur Montréal...
... even SlamBoy didn't paint garbage cans anymore. The little alien in the back was quite cool. / FR ... même SlamBoy ne peignaient plus les poubelles. Le petit extraterrestre derrière était plutôt sympathique.
We'll have to wait for warmer weather to see the Legal Wall de Rouen again. I wonder if some artists still go and paint under the viaduct when the temperatures permit. I'm sure that for some, their passion helps them to overcome the cold.
Nous allons attendre les beaux jours pour retrouver le Mur Légal de Rouen. Je me demande si certains artistes continuent d'aller peindre sous le viaduc quand les températures le permettent. Je suis sûr que pour certain, la passion leur permet de surmonter le froid.

I like that first portrait by Valérie Delvoye. The cold weather is hard to paint in and difficult to get the paint to dry. They are building a new house down the road from us. They poured the concrete in the cold weather then build a tent like structure around the walls and have been pumping in heat to get the concrete to cure. I'm kinda impressed but also kinda dumbfounded they even tried it in the winter.
Yes, fewer people to paint or work outside... today I saw that houses are also being built here in Montreal. I feel sorry for the workers on these construction sites. I'm happy to work in front of my computer 😀
