After my previous post StreetArt #763 on Fouapa, we're staying in Lyon to discover other artists. If you're in town and you're a StreetArt fan, I recommend you visit the Croix-Rousse district, where there's a lot of StreetArt. It's not necessarily big murals, but rather collages, sculptures... that can be found all over the walls of this former working-class district.
Après mon post précédent sur Fouapa (StreetArt #763), nous restons toujours à Lyon pour découvrir d'autres artistes. Si vous êtes en ville et que vous êtes un amateur de StreetArt, je vous conseille de visiter de le quartier de la Croix-Rousse, il y a beaucoup de StreetArt. Il ne s'agit pas forcément de grandes murales, mais plutôt des collages, des sculptures... que l'on retrouvent partout collés sur les murs de cet ancien quartier ouvrier.
WHERE
In the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon (France). This neighborhood is also known as La Colline qui travaille (The Working Hill), because it was once a working-class district with weaving workshops. Now it's home to cafés, theaters and lots of street art. A must-see if you're in town.
Dans le quartier de la Croix-Rousse à Lyon (France). Ce quartier est aussi appelé la Colline qui travaille, car ancien quartier ouvrier avec ces ateliers de tissage. Maintenant, on retrouve des cafés, des salles de spectacles, et beaucoup de StreetArt. A visiter si vous êtes en ville.

Britt_tam
Paste-ups, stickers and small sculptures can be found everywhere in this neighborhood. Perfect for artists to make themselves known. Britt_tam is an artist based in Lyon. She started out as a deccor painter after studying art history. But for some time now, she's been pasted this little girl, a portrait of the American photographer Vivian Maier when she was young.
Dans ce quartier, un peu partout on retrouve des collages, des autocollants ou des petites sculptures. Parfait pour les artistes pour se faire connaitre. Britt_tam est une artiste basée à Lyon. Elle a commencé comme peintre en déccor après ses études en histoire de l'Art. Mais depuis quelques temps, elle colle cette fillette, portrait de la photographe américaine Vivian Maier quand elle était jeune.
Thanks to this portrait, Britt_tam can get its social messages across, as with this astronaut and her “Planet B” t-shirt, reminding us that the Earth is our only planet and that there are no others. So we have to take care of it, because time is running out, as the watch on her wrist indicates.
Grâce à ce portrait, Britt_tam peut faire passer ses messages surtout sociaux comme avec cette astronaute et son t-shirt "Planet B" pour rappeler que la Terre est notre seule planète et qu'il n'y en a pas d'autres. Alors il faut en prendre soin, le temps est compté comme l'indique la montre à son poignet.
Last June, France was in the middle of an election, with a strong rise in the extreme right, whose party was called the Front National (it changed its name a few years ago). The artist was thus displaying his political opinion. It's always interesting when an artist gets involved...What do you think?
En juin dernier, la France était en pleine élection avec une forte montée de l'extrème droite dont le parti s'appellait le Front National (il a changé de nom, il y a quelques années). L'artiste affichait ainsi son opinion politque. Toujours intéressant quand un artiste s'engage...Que pensez-vous ?**
NOZE
I discovered another artist and tattooist on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse, NOZE also based in Lyon. The first works I saw were these “sculpture paintings”. But looking at his Instagram account, the glued-on shoes are also his handiwork. I'm not sure whether they're real shoes, cut out and glued on, or sculptures. This half-Nike was too high for me to touch 😀.
J'ai découvert un autre artiste et tatoueur, sur les pentes de la Croix-Rousse, il s'agit de NOZE basé aussi sur Lyon. Les premières oeuvres que j'ai vues ce sont ces "tableaux sculpture". Mais en regardant son compte Instagram, les chaussures collées sont aussi de sa main. Je ne sais pas si il s'agit de vraies chaussures découpées puis collées ou des sculptures. Cette demi-Nike était trop haute pour que je puisse la toucher et résoudre ce mystère 😀.
