Finally after nearly three weeks l get to show you guys where l am in India.
This is the sector we will be staying for the next three months - if you would like to read about how we got here (India) >read here<
India is very different from boat life - going into malls which are completely crowded definitely what we try to avoid as sailors. This town or city doesn't have may tourists as there isn't really much to see.
It really is quite sad to see all the rubbish and pollution happening - and this doesn't only apply to India, everywhere pollution is happening.
Luckily one of my teachers had a drone (the exact same one as mine), therefore l can do this post for you guys;)
Getting the drone from the boat to India would be a problem as customs wouldn't allow it
Some night shots:
As you see in the photos maybe you would expect more traffic - well acutually it was a holiday (Holi day) and thats why everyone was out celebrating with their friends.
Now being here, l have read about this sector and would love to share my discoveries with you:
History of Sector 29, Noida (Where l live)
Originally farmland, Sector 29 was transformed after Noida’s establishment in 1976 under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act. Initially part of rural villages like Sadarpur and Atta, it was designated as a mixed-use zone in the 1980s, attracting government employees and factory workers.
The area’s turning point came in the 2000s with the opening of Great India Place Mall (2008), which made it a retail and entertainment hub. The 2019 metro extension further boosted connectivity. Today, Sector 29 is known for its nightlife, shopping, and dining, with landmarks like Piano Man Jazz Club and DLF Mall of India nearby.
Development wasn’t without challenges—farmers protested land acquisitions, and rapid urbanization led to pollution concerns. Yet, its proximity to Delhi and the Noida Expressway solidified its status as a commercial hotspot. Remnants of its past, like old village structures near Kechnar Marg, still linger, blending history with modernity.
In just decades, Sector 29 evolved from fields to a bustling urban center, reflecting Noida’s explosive growth.
Pretty amazing right?
Let me know what you think!
Now for the last photo - that stands above all:
Well, thats all for today - l hope you all enjoyed my little update!
Make sure to check out c/drone as there are some amazing drone shots as well! See you soon
Until next time...
