A Few More Weeks Until Spring?

The weather has been changing little by little, even though the wind is still cold outside. I still wear warm clothes, winter boots, a winter jacket, and a hat. I also continue to use the heat pump and sometimes the wood stove at night.

However, hints of spring are starting to peek through in nature and at stores. Green is one of the symbols of spring, as you know.

This store display made me happy, even though there is still ice and snow outside. When I stopped by the farm market to buy some pastries and fruit, I noticed a beautiful green-themed display. The green yarn, chocolate packages, boxes, toques, and more. Green beans, clovers, and little green frogs looked so pretty on the display.

When I touched the green pea-shaped yarn artwork, it felt soft and gentle. I could sense both the artist's warm energy and the fresh energy of spring. They are such lovely toys for infants.

I think Saint Patrick's Day is one of my favorite events of the year. I don’t do anything particular to celebrate, but I enjoy the cheerful spring atmosphere it brings.

Finally, daylight saving time started today. I feel a bit spacey because I lost an hour of sleep when I woke up. I was on the phone with my mother last night, so I went to bed later than usual. As a result, I feel like I only slept a few hours, which wasn’t enough for me. By the time I returned from my dog's morning walk, it was already lunchtime.

It felt like I had to start preparing dinner right after lunch. After dinner, it was still a bit bright outside. That late sunset lifted my mood, even though I felt a little melancholy today. Hopefully, from now on, I’ll get more sunshine.

I saw a little bird returning to my area. In the brown-looking bushes, many birds were sitting and eating seeds left over from last autumn. Perfect food for those just arriving from distant places.

Soon, I’ll notice more green around me. I hope the last of the snow and ice will melt away soon.

春までもう数週間？

気候が少しずつ変化してきていますが、外はまだ寒いです。まだ冬服を着て、ブーツを履いて、分厚いジャケットを着て、帽子をかぶっています。日中はエアコンの温風を使用し、寒い夜は薪ストーブも使用しています。

ところで、自然やお店には、春のヒントがちらほら見え隠れしています。春のシンボルといえば緑色ですよね。

このお店のディスプレイを見た途端、外にはまだ雪や氷があるのにも関わらず、思わず嬉しくなりました。焼き菓子と果物を買いに立ち寄った農場マーケットの店内には、緑の毛糸、緑のチョコレートのパッケージ、緑の箱、緑の毛糸の帽子などなど…たくさん並んでいました。緑の豆や三つ葉、緑の小さなカエルがかわいらしいですね。

この緑の毛糸の豆を触ってみると、やわらかくて優しい感じがしました。アーティストさんのやわらかな感じと新鮮な春の息吹が伝わってくるようでした。小さな子のおもちゃに最適ですね。

年間行事の中で、聖パトリックの祝日が好きです。特に何をするわけではないのですが、春の訪れを感じられる元気な雰囲気がしてくるのです。

やっと、今日から夏時間がスタートしました。朝起きると、１時間が無くなっていたので、なんだかボーッとします。昨夜は母と電話をして夜更かしをしてしまったので、いつもよりも寝る時間が遅くなりました。たった数時間しか眠った気がしなく、睡眠時間が足りなかったように感じます。朝の犬の散歩から戻ると、もう早お昼の時間でした。

お昼が終わったら、あっという間に今度は夕食の時間でした。夜ご飯を食べ終わっても、外はまだ明るかったです。夜になるのが遅くなることで、少しだけ気分が上がります。今日は少し気分が滅入っていたので尚更です。もう少し太陽を浴びる時間が増えるといいのですが。

この地域にも小さな鳥たちが戻ってきました。茶色の枯れ木の上の去年の残り物の秋の実を食べているようです。長旅の後に、食べ物にありつけるのはホッとするのではないでしょうか。

もう時期、家の周りにも緑が増えてくるのではないかと思います。残っている雪と氷が早くとけてくれるといいです。
