Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 391 with a beer I found in the grocery shop during my few days in a cabin in the Eastern Townships near Magog. It's O'boq, an Irish red ale brewed by the microbrewery Le Boq.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 391 avec une bière trouvée à l'épicerie lors de mes quelques jours dans un chalet en Estrie près de Magog. Il s'agit de la O'boq, une rousse irlandaise brassée par la microbrasserie Le Boq.
Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. Le Boq is in Sherbrooke, about a 2-hour drive east of Montreal. I don't know this town at all. It could make a nice weekend in 2025.
Voici la carte du Québec ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Le Boq se trouve à Sherbrooke, à environ 2 heures de voiture à l'est de Montréal. Je ne connais pas du tout cette ville. Cela pourrait faire un weekend sympathique en 2025.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :
Le Boq was founded in 2008 by Martin St-Pierre and Sébastien Authier. They sold in 2020 to a fairly young trio (under 30 at the time), Etienne Caron, Charles Gagné and Jean-Michael Guay. Despite the pandemic and the lock-down, the team managed to survive and now offer more than just beer in Sherbrooke. The brewery is also a restaurant and music/performance hall. What's more, their cans can be found in grocery shops throughout the region. That's how I discovered their beers.
Le Boq a été fondée en 2008 par Martin St-Pierre et Sébastien Authier. Ils revendent en 2020 à un trio assez jeune (moins de 30 ans à l'époque), Etienne Caron, Charles Gagné et Jean-Michael Guay. Malgré la pandémie et son confinement, l'équipe arrive à survivre et maintenant proposer plus que de la bière dans la ville de Sherbrooke. En effet, la brasserie est aussi un restaurant et une salle de spectacle. De plus, on retrouve dans les épiceries de la région leurs canettes. C'est comme cela que j'ai découvert leurs bières.
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
O'boq is an Irish red ale with 4.5% alcohol and a IBU of 27. In the glass, you'll find a beautiful, cloudy amber colour topped by a good, light head. On the palate, it has all the characteristics of a rousse, with notes of caramel and toasted malt. As a fan of this type of beer, I found it perfect, especially after driving for 2 hours and finally settling into the chalet with its beautiful view of the lake. Over the weekend, I also tried their NEIPA, Pura Vida, which is interesting...
La O’boq est une rousse irlandaise avec 4.5% d'alcool et un IBU de 27. Dans le verre, on retrouve une belle robe ambrée et troublée surmontée d'un bon col de mousse lègère. En bouche, on retrouve toutes les caractéristiques d'une rousse avec des notes de caramel et de malt grillé. Étant amateur de ce type de bière, je l'ai trouvé parfaite surtout après avoir fait 2 heures de voitures et d'être enfin installé dans le chalet avec une très belle vue sur le lac. Au cours du weekend, j'ai gouté aussi leur NEIPA, Pura Vida, intéressante...
Design
As for the design, the colour palette chosen reflects the style of the beer, with a funny character with eyes in the shape of a cloverleaf. You can't go wrong with the style of beer intended by the Le Boq team.
Pour le design, la palette de couleurs choisie reflète bien le style de la bière avec de drôle de personnage aux yeux en forme de trèfle. On ne peut pas se tromper sur le style de bière voulue par l'équipe de Le Boq.

This beer wasn't that strong... That's what I like about Red Ale, it's the balance between flavour and freshness.

It's a fulfil feeling when manage to ad on the grocery the beer and after the long day you have it while relaxing and setting front the tv watching football or favorite movie.
