Here's my entry for the BeerSaturday 396 with a beer I forgot to mention last week. I'd bought this Old Fashioned, Imperial Orange Bourbon by brewery Beauregard at the same time as a Blonde à la Mûre presented during my previous post BeerSaturday 393. I'm not a fan of beer with too high a percentage of alcohol, 11.9% for this beer, but loving the Old Fashioned cocktail, I let myself be tempted. Good temptation?
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 396 avec une bière que j'ai oublié de vous présenter la semaine dernière. J'avais acheté cette Old Fashioned, Imperial Orange Bourbon par la microbrasserie Beauregard en même temps qu'une Blonde à la Mûre présenté lors du BeerSaturday 393. Je ne suis pas fan de bière avec un trop fort pourcentage d'alcool, 11.9 % pour cette bière mais aimant le cocktail Old Fashioned, je me suis laisser tenter. Bonne tentation ?

As I've already talked about the microbrewery Beauregard at BeerSaturday 393, I'll keep it short. The brewery was founded in 2018 by two brothers Jonathan and Sébastien Coutu in Montreal. It specializes in dark, stout and porter beers, with the aim of making as many people as possible appreciate this type of beer.
Comme j'ai déjà parlé de la microbrasserie Beauregard lors du BeerSaturday 393, je vais faire court. La brasserie fut fondée en 2018 par deux frères Jonathan et Sébastien Coutu à Montréal. Elle est spécialisée dans les bières noires, stout et porter, dans le but de faire apprécier au plus grand nombre ce type de bière.

The Old Fashioned is an Impériale Stout Bourbon Orange with almost 12% alcohol, a little too high for a beer. But as I said in the introduction, I like an old fashioned cocktail every now and then. For the record, Imperial Stout is a strong, full-bodied beer created in London in the 18th century for export to the Russian imperial court. Interesting, isn't it? This Imperial was blended in a vat that contained Bourbon Heaven Hill. In the glass, it has a beautiful black color with a light brown foam. On the palate, there's a rich, malty taste with a hint of citrus. It drinks more like a cocktail than a beer. But rather pleasant to drink after a cold winter's day.
La Old Fashioned est une Impériale Stout Bourbon Orange avec presque 12% d'alcool, un peu trop élévé pour une bière. Mais comme je le disais en introduction, j'aime bien de temps en temps un cocktail old fashioned. Pour info, l'Imperial Stout est une bière forte et corsée créé à Londres au XVIIIème siècle pour être exporter à la cour impériale russe. Intéressant, non ? Cette impérial a été assemblée dans une cuve qui a contenu du Bourbon Heaven Hill. Dans le verre, on a une belle robe noire avec une légère mousse brune. En bouche, on retrouve un goût riche et malté avec une touche d'agrumes. Cela se boit plus comme un cocktail que comme une bière. Mais plutôt sympathique à boire après une journée froide d'hiver.

Pretty can and looks nice in the glass. 12% alcohol is a bit extreme. Makes you wonder if it is for the taste/style or they just want to be the highest alcohol content in the craft beer section?
This type of beer, Imperial Stout, is generally around 10%. That's a bit too much for me for a beer. You almost have to drink it like a cocktail. That's what I did after a cold winter's day 😀
