RE: CBC Amber Weiss and Snacks Mid Conference for #BeerSaturday

Well, then you can imagine where I come from regarding technology. Nothing in the 50s, 60s and only started in the late 80s. I only started with it in the 2000s. !LOL

Someone said, we buy things that we don't need, with money that we don't have, only to impress the people that we don't like. So true, and that's why technology plays a lesser role in my life.

For sure. That is the biggest problem and I get in so many fights with family and friends for this very reason. I always ask people why they do something, and then usually revert back to the idea that they actually are doing only to impress others!

Some people are desperate to show their worth by buying things to stay "up to date", and in the process they max their credit cards. Then when the stuff hits the fan, with their debts, they end up with their hands in their hair. It is foolish to try and impress others. No self worth.

For sure, and that is why I always stay clear of this talk. Our families (mine and the fiance's) never buy things on credit, and we do not live for others in this way. We keep to ourselves and carve out a life that we think is best. Trying to impress others is a never-ending battle.

Funny that you say this, as I just had a reply that a person was worried about what people say. To me as with you, it makes no difference, as we just carry on with our own lives. And a bonus is that we have no debts.

For sure. Debt is the worst trap of them all. But I am also worrying about giving money to banks, as they further and perpetuate the debt-ridden society. It is the money we give to the banks that perpetuate this bad system. But what can we do, right? Either we give them the money so that we can buy things (as even though cash is king it is dangerous) or we buy with debt and get crushed by the system. No real alternative, to my mind at least.

The old people got things right by dealing in cash only. Their motto was that if you wanted something expensive, then you save up your cash to buy it. Never buy something that you cannot afford. But now in our modern times there is a major problem for cash dealers lurking, and it's called digital money. Soon cash will disappear, and everything will be online, and traceable. Some car washes and other small businesses here already don't accept cash. !LOLZ

I found out this on the hard way! The fiance and I were walking on the beach when someone approached us trying to sell their product. Like I always do, I told them sorry I do not have cash with me. They said, not to worry, they have snapscan or something like that! So, even the small vendors (like car guards as well) are adopting electronic cash.

Not the best prospects for the future, as digital cash is not physical cash and can be taken away by power-hungry governments that want to silence the populace.
