Vietnam Has Craft Beer! Happy New Year of the Tiger!

in BEER3 years ago (edited)

Thanks @zekepickleman for tagging me to #BeerSaturday and introducing me to this C/Beer community on HIVE!

Based out of Vietnam, We are a couple who live and move by 2 wheels on the road most of the year, and anybody that has ridden on 2 wheels in tropical weather knows how amazing it is to down a cold brew at end of long tour on the road.

When I first came to Vietnam, I really only knew of the staples in Vietnam beer cabinet...Beers like

Tiger Beer - Import from Singapore
Bia Saigon - from Saigon, Vietnam
Bia Hanoi - from Hanoi, Vietnam
Heineken - Import from Netherlands

What's great about these beer if they are all so cheap! in Vietnam 1 can of these beers run ya from 50 cents to $1 in restaurants, side of the road anywhere. its hard not to over indulge here in Vietnam! But these beers kind of taste like any mass factory produced beer, just plain tasting in general...which brings me to Craft Beer!

What really has intrigued me is how far the Craft Beer scene has come along, grown and matured in Vietnam. At first there was just a couple breweries just bringing your usual IPAs. now they have virtually every single flavor you can think of, even Ciders! Lots of experimenting with local Southeast Asian fruits and such as well.

Lets take look at what is available at my local convenient store today (in Vietnamese we call it a Tạp Hóa)

Here we have East West Brewing Co, based out of Saigon, Vietnam. I personally picked the Far East IPA to drink today.

ciders.jpeg

Here we have one of the newest craft cider brewers on the block! Da Lat is a mountaineous region home to Strawberries, so they made their own strawberries infused apple cider, pretty gnarly and great tasting!

Pasteur Street Brewing based out of Saigon, Vietnam. This is a Passionfruit Wheat Ale they use locally sourced Passionfruits.

Some more East West Brewing Co action, your usual Stouts and Belgians.

tete.jpeg

TeTe is a very "affordable" craft beer coming in at roughly $2 a can, can't beat their IPAs! Peep the Thunderslap IPA looks like your cool hipster craft beer you would see in most Western beer shops.

lagers.jpeg

Even Pizza 4Ps (Japanese owned restaurant) makes their beers now! They sourced their own cheese and milk whey from that mountain town called Da Lat. Instead of discarding the leftover Whey from cheesemaking, they use it to make beer, talk about removing all food waste while being sustainable!

Here is links to every brewery company that is featured in these pictures...

Welcome to the party!

This was one of the first groups I started hanging with those years ago. There are many I love but none as much as my blockchain pub family.

Love those beers that are regular for you but exotic for many of us!

!BEER

Its a pretty cool group, the beer pong game seems rad, can't wait to jump in on a virtual game. It is crazy huh, everything that was exotic and culture shock levels to me years ago is now normal and the West seems exotic to me now lolz. Craft beer was so normal but now exotic to me. Perspective can change during our life its wild :D

Very glad that you enjoyed my post and again thanks for tagging me and inviting me to the party :D

Very interesting - we occasionally see Pasteur street in Australia and I have to say I have enjoyed their beers - lots more to look out for though.

Whoa, I had no idea Vietnam exports craft beer. That's cool to know, ya theres tons more available, and I'm sure I haven't even tried every option yet, always a new one showing up in local convenient store fridge every couple weeks.

ồ, nhờ em mà chị mới được biết thêm mấy loại bia này á. lạ quá, chưa bao giờ nếm thử

Haha em cũng không uống chị ạ. Bài này anh James viết đó chị

That is definitely a nice selection of craft brews! There are certainly some there that I'd be willing to try, such as the stout and the pale ales. Awesome selection.
