Poll: Proposed Change to Our Payout Strategy

Sorry for the mass ping but this post is very important for every single delegator of DIYHub!

We hope this message finds you well. As a collective, we strive to continuously improve and adapt to better serve our community and fulfill our mission. With this goal in mind, we are considering a change to our payout strategy, and we value your input in this decision-making process.

DIYHub is a non-profit curation service, committed to paying out 100% of our curation rewards to our delegators. However, we are considering changing this payout rate from 100% to 80%. In this post, we'll discuss the reasons behind this potential change, and we invite you to help us decide by voting in the poll below.

Why We Ask For Your Vote

Curation rewards are the primary source of income for a curation project like ours. While many other curation projects do not pay out 100%, or any, of their rewards, our commitment to distributing 100% of curation rewards has been a key selling point for our delegators. However, we must confront the reality that we lack the necessary funds to accelerate our project's growth. This is why we are considering reducing the payout rate from 100% to 80%.
Our Authors
Unfortunately, our contest announcements, interviews, and update posts do not generate significant income.

Especially disappointing is the lack of engagement with our update and interview posts, which only generate 1-2 Hive per post. This low return is not motivating for our authors, considering the effort required to produce these posts.

We believe their work deserves greater appreciation and better incentives. Increasing our motivation and activity in writing requires more substantial rewards.

Our Contests
Our lack of funds also prevents us from hosting contests with larger prize pools. Although we frequently collaborate with partners who sponsor these prizes, our ideal situation would be to independently pay our authors and still have enough excess to reward contest winners.

What we would use the 20% for?

  1. First and foremost, our authors deserve a fair reward for their hard work on contests, interviews, announcement posts, and curation reports. To achieve this, we propose allocating 10% of the curation rewards for this purpose.

  2. Additionally, we aim to save up contest prizes in our HBD savings account and use them recurringly to sponsor contest prizes. We propose allocating another 10% of the curation rewards for these prize pools.

How much is 20%?

We generate an average of 9.89 HP per day in curation rewards. For simplicity, we'll use 10 HP as our daily curation reward, which amounts to 70 HP per week. Since we pay out the rewards in HIVE, we'll continue with HIVE instead of HP in our calculations.

We hold our contests on a monthly basis, which means we would have an additional 28 HIVE to allocate to prize pools each month. Although 7 HIVE for our authors may not seem like much, compared to 0, it represents a significant increase in rewards for our hard-working authors ;)

Please Vote on The Poll

As a collective, we value community input and transparency in our decision-making process. We want to ensure that every member has a voice in shaping the direction of our project. Additionally, we deeply appreciate the trust placed in us by our delegators, regardless of the size of their delegation.

Therefore, we will be pinging every single delegator with this post to gather their thoughts and feedback on the proposed changes. Sorry for the "mass ping" but we think you should decide and there is no other way to place this poll on your desk:

50/50 Split In Favour of the Community

Thank you for your positive feedback

Get more delegations. I just upped mine from 500 to 1000. If everyone delegates it will give a huge boost. Then do whatever you have to to make it a viable project. I don't need the diy rewards and am happy to see others get properly rewarded for their content.

cheers man this is truly amazing

Hive Power Up Day - June 1st 2024

I do think it's best that we split it imo, and also, everyone wins in the end anyway 😄

Yes. Everybody wins.

Thank you for your positive feedback

Gracias por el apoyo

For what it's worth, I think I am the biggest backer for the project by delegation weight. I've been trying to balance my delegations against my activity level in personal curation, so it may fluctuate from time to time, but switching to 80% won't make me change my support.

We appreciate your honest and positive feedback.

Here's an idea: add value to the DIY token by offering a sliding scale for curation rewards based on how much someone holds. I am admittedly self-interested here because I hold a significant fraction of the DIY total and would stand to benefit from both higher demand and higher curation. It's probably not the best option for the community, but I'd like to see them usable for something.

After I reviewed the entire post. I can say with great pleasure. It's best to come up with 100% to 80% curation because community health success has always been a great talent of ours. Thanks a lot for conveying this remarkable information to all of us by means of Percentance with great feeling. Above all your hard work is always appreciated by me and hope to reward your hard work to the creator. Thank you very much for creating a wonderful blog. I always think all processes to take the community to the top always give me peace.
Respect and love to the @diyhub community. Thank you very much for letting us know about this new curation via Mention. This is a good decision to take communication to the top.

Thank you. Always a pleasure @mdakash62

you are most welcome sir

This seems fair to me. Obviously you can't return everything to us, the delegators, as on a long run will affect the community and it's possible members who lose interest. I've took part with two articles and both had many hours of work to set them up which ended up with a low number at the end of the day which is very disappointing. The community do need a fresh boost to keep it's members interested and this change was more than needed on my opinion.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We appreciate our delegators and also try to encourage our authors as without them we wouldn't have any payout at all.

I'm sorry but with cut to 80%, I'll look for somewhere better to delegate

Thank you for your honest feedback

I would have no problem if you increase the author / contest percentage. I guess 34% could be bearable for everyone, at least it would be to me.
Thanks for your great work and support on the community!

Thank you for your positive feedback. Much appreciated. So it's a proposed 80-20 payout.

I'm fine with that. Enjoy your day!
