It is a beautiful moment to share my thoughts on my blog this morning from my shop. It has been a slow start for business since the start of the year for various reasons - most people spent a lot during the festive period and the last thing on their minds now will be to sew dresses. Another reason is that some of the people that traveled to other locations for the festive period are not back yet, so it may slow down business to some extent.

January is that time of the year when people try to manage their available resources due to the expenditures recorded in November - December. There is a saying especially among salary earners that 'January is 60 days', this is due to the fact that it seem to be long before the January salary will be paid. You know must corporate organizations pay their December salary as early as the second week.

I was talking to a friend who is a e-hailing driver sometimes last week and he was also lamenting about how business has been slow. He pointed out that there were little or no ride requests compared to how it was a busy one during December. Well, with time I'm pretty sure the whole dynamics will begin to balance as weeks goes by.

So, I have been engaging myself with the outstanding works that I have not completed. I have about four different materials from some customers in my shop that I haven't completed yet. The reason is that they haven't paid completely, so I can't finish up to avoid them picking it up and not eventually paying their balance. I have had experience with some customers that pick up without full payment, promising to send the balance within some hours or days but they will default. So, I made the rule of no payment, no completion of dress.

Also, I can't wait to share with you the beautiful dress I made for my son. I specialize majorly in sewing female dresses and I did a lot of that during the festive period. At some point I begin to feel bad when I look at how I'm making people's girl child look adorable and I can't sew for my son. So I decided to Watch some basics of sewing male dresses online and I was able to grasp one or two things which inspired me to make him a perfect two piece. I will write a post on it soon and share with you all.

Another point to note in the past one to two weeks is the epileptic power supply in my area. Since the beginning of the year we have been experiencing poor power supply. During the last three months of 2024 we enjoyed adequate power supply in my community and it aided my business very well because I didn't have to spend money on buying fuel for generator. But it's quite a concern for some weeks now.

Enough of my lamentation for now. I hope business will begin to improve in the coming days.

Thanks for your time and see you in my next one.
