Parachuting yes - paragliding no, but I don't know why. I'm often dreaming of similar things like paragliding and I don't like it - maybe that's the reason 😉

WOW... what an exhilarating experience it must be to jump out of a plane, and feel the wind, and descend down, and hear the quiet above the normal ground level sounds.
So my sorority sister in college was on the ROTC program. On our third year summer, she had to go for paratrooper training along with the others (mostly boys). She was less than 90 pounds then. When she came back (oh BTW, she finished top of her class!), she recounted to us about her experience.
She was so scared to jump the very first time they parachuted at night... because it was pitch dark! They were dropped in the middle of the woods! Because she was lightweight, they had to push her out of the plane to make sure she jumps some distance away from the plane and not get pulled back by the air pressure surrounding the plane. On her way down, it was so very dark she continued to be so fearful, especially because she knew that she was being blown by the winds way away from the intended drop point. She spent the entire night making her way to the rendezvous point (while feeling so alone and scared to death). She did make it, but was the last one in and almost got left her behind.
Long story short... I guess this may be the reason why I'd be too scared to try parachuting, LOL!

Oh well, such a story must certainly be an unforgettable nightmare and I can completely understand you, of course.
But I would have a simple solution: jump during daylight, because then you can see what's below you 😉

BTW, my sorority sister is now a Full bird Colonel of the U.S. Army. One of the youngest in her class... so cool 😎! So we call her, colonel sis, LOL 😉!

I think she did during missions she's had in the past, which doesn't really discuss with us. She now works in the Pentagon, and we get together every time I am in Washington DC.
