Before the Summer break we have been hunting the letter O in the #AlphabetHunt Challenge hosted by great Barbara @barbara-orenya in the Feel Good Community: illustrate 6 words (or concepts) starting with the letter of the week.
Now, the Summer break is finally over and we can hunt again 😁 so, this week we hunt the next letter in the Alphabet, which is the Letter "P": It's Back To School for #AlphabetHunt ! Letter P is pawing =D.
Hunting the "P"

Pyramidenkogel
About a month ago during my ride to work I saw a colorful sunrise behind me in my motorbike's mirrors. And when I was on the road along the lake I could see how beautiful the Pyramidenkogel was lit by the morning sun. A pink colored cloud was laying like a snake over the hill and let only the top of the Observation Tower look through.

I work in a little village at the north shore of lake Wörthersee (see on Google Maps) and the Pyramidenkogel is in the south.

Paragliding
There's a reservoir in the east of my hometown Klagenfurt where I often walking and from where I have posted quite some photos over the past few years (see on Google Maps). To the north of the reservoir there is the Radsberg mountain from where I often can see Paragliders flying down to the valley.

Although I have never tried this sport I think I would prefer skydiving, although I haven't done this yet either 😉

Praying Mantis
About two weeks ago I have already posted my meeting with this beautiful little creature (ain't she sweet?), but I have known I have to keep one image of the green lady "P" hunt 😉

Phenomenon
Many things can be called a Phenomenon, and this one I have seen only a couple of days ago from a mountain nearby and as with the Praying Mantis I have already made a post (Fighting Gods ), but kept a few images for the "P" hunt.

While the Halos are caused by the sun or the moon interacting with ice crystals in the atmosphere, a rainbow is caused by reflection of light in water droplets in the air. This one I have seen about 2 years ago at the reservoir and it was actually a double rainbow, although the second bow above can't be seen very good.

Paris Quadrifolia
Paris quadrifolia, also called the herb-paris or true lover's knot - I don'tknow this plant all my life long, but I have to admit, that I don't know anything about it, except the fact that the whole plant is toxic.

I liked the waterdrop hanging off the berry.

Poppy Flower
I like the Poppy flowers, but I haven't photographed them a lot. These photos I have taken in my parent's garden and they show the blossom, the flower bud and the seed capsule.

Somehow I like the seed capsules of the Poppy and I have taken quite some photos of them lately. After editing the photos I might even make a separate post just about the Poppy Seed Capsules (or use it for the "S" hunt ;).

Well, that was it for this week's hunt - I have found and shared 6 words starting with P and now I have some time to search for the next letter, but I am not sure if the hunt for the Q will be as successful as the hunts before 😄

All photos were shot with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C. I leave all EXIF and IPTC information stored in the pictures. |

poppy!!! I totally forgot about it this round, heh. one of my favourite flowers and plants, I dont see it too often unfortunately.
the Paris quadrifolia, aka the herb-paris or true lover's knot - I do know this berry from my infant days (my grandpa taught me its toxic). havent seen one for many years. let me add a few cents to your knowledge: in Russian, it has a nice and unique name 'Raven's eye' (you may re-use it again, during the R-round, if you will have difficulties with finding words, hehe). A great and exclusive entry, I believe!
Pyramidenkogel and Phenomenon are also my faves. needless to add, that none of your pickups this time didnt came to my mind / list, this time we didnt match at all! which is a good thing.... and the !BEER

Well, sometimes mantis can be met here too which never happen before. My husband saw them few times but if I .... oh, can't even think of it, I am scared.

Good afternoon Johann 😊. So true the Alphabet Hunt has changed how we think and what to keep in the files in case we need them later.
The effects of the hurricane won’t reach us until later on the weekend. Once it hit landfall at 150 MPH (241 KPH) in Louisiana it slowed down and now a tropical storm. So much destruction in Texas and Louisiana on the news.
The prediction is excess of rainfall here on Sunday and hopefully the wind speed will not be as high predicted on this model

The Q is a queer letter to find words. Do you have any towns or cities that start with a Q? There is Quebec here in Canada but I didn’t have a photo to relate.
September seems to be the month when the hurricanes churn (most times) in the warm Gulf of Mexico waters and by the time it hits the Atlantic Ocean, the cold water here will slow the wind speed down. So there is advantage to having colder weather.

The news is full of the destruction caused by the hurricane coming up through the states. The cold Atlantic waters should stop anything in it’s tracks. :)

Lovely, lovely photos! I always wanted to do paragliding. I spent my college and several work years in San Francisco. And there is an area there where you can paraglide, and I've always wanted to do it but never got to. Tandem flights would have been great too! It is never too late!

WOW... what an exhilarating experience it must be to jump out of a plane, and feel the wind, and descend down, and hear the quiet above the normal ground level sounds.
So my sorority sister in college was on the ROTC program. On our third year summer, she had to go for paratrooper training along with the others (mostly boys). She was less than 90 pounds then. When she came back (oh BTW, she finished top of her class!), she recounted to us about her experience.
She was so scared to jump the very first time they parachuted at night... because it was pitch dark! They were dropped in the middle of the woods! Because she was lightweight, they had to push her out of the plane to make sure she jumps some distance away from the plane and not get pulled back by the air pressure surrounding the plane. On her way down, it was so very dark she continued to be so fearful, especially because she knew that she was being blown by the winds way away from the intended drop point. She spent the entire night making her way to the rendezvous point (while feeling so alone and scared to death). She did make it, but was the last one in and almost got left her behind.
Long story short... I guess this may be the reason why I'd be too scared to try parachuting, LOL!
Oh well, such a story must certainly be an unforgettable nightmare and I can completely understand you, of course.
But I would have a simple solution: jump during daylight, because then you can see what's below you 😉

BTW, my sorority sister is now a Full bird Colonel of the U.S. Army. One of the youngest in her class... so cool 😎! So we call her, colonel sis, LOL 😉!

I think she did during missions she's had in the past, which doesn't really discuss with us. She now works in the Pentagon, and we get together every time I am in Washington DC.
