Four months ago, at the beginning of summer, we visited Pszczyna and The bison enclosure in the pouring rain. I wrote then that there was another bison site that I wanted to visit. And finally, I did it - last Saturday we arranged with our new dear friends and went to the Żubrowisko Reserve in Jankowice near Pszczyna.
Open to visitors is a pleasant, forest path, less than 2 km long, leading around a fenced area where a couple of bison live. A solid, double fence has been erected around their enclosure, and the bison should be kept alert between the trees. Apparently, with a bit of luck, you can see quite a herd up close, almost in the wild.
There are no tickets, no gates. Free admission. You simply enter the Żubrowisko area and walk according to the arrows. The path is comfortable, you can take a stroller. There are wooden footbridges here and there.
From time to time, information boards are set up - sometimes about bison, sometimes about the forest, sometimes about birds.
Behind a fence like the one below you should look out for a bison.
The best chance of spotting a bison is of course at the feeder. And this time we finally saw something here - there were two bison, but one was almost hidden in the shadow.
Fajno, ale byłam nieco rozczarowana - bo słyszałam opowieści tych, którzy faktycznie widzieli całe stadko, poza paśnikiem. Cóż, nie tym razem.
Cool, but I was a bit disappointed - because I've heard stories from those who actually saw the whole herd, except for the feeder. Well, not this time.
Ale nawet i bez żubrów ścieżka ta była magiczna, piękna, zwłaszcza taką złotą jesienią.
But even without the bison this path was magical, beautiful, especially in such a golden autumn.
No bajka :)
Fabulous place :)
On the other side, there is also a much larger area fenced off - but there are no more walking paths there and generally it is a proper reserve and you should leave these bisons alone.
And I won't lie, I was tempted to go there somewhere, because I felt like bisons were not enough. However, the youth wanted to go back "Let's get out of this forest already!!!!", so we had no choice but to say bye bisons, we will come back here!
