It is interesting how countries fight for freedom from the rule of a man, yet people only want liberty under the rule of a man.

Does this mean that liberty is merely freely-chosen slavery? Or something to that effect?
If so, then there needs to be a serious re-evaluation of the term and the ideas we associate with it.
It means one is either free or governed.
Free men have Rights.l; Governed men have liberties.
Rights are permissionless and cannot be rescinded; liberties are by permission and revokable.
Rights precede the State and persist.

So for example, It may be rightly said that Australians have the Right to bear arms even though they do not have the liberty to do so.
