Before now I belonged to the category of people who thought being an artist was easy, I always thought since their hands are blessed they could do anything and everything, this changed when I had a peek into my artist's friend’s life Tayo.
I always wondered what could go wrong in these peoples life but getting to know what goes behind the scene is so touching and my respect grew for all artists globally.
I have a friend named Tayo, Tayo is an artist, a young promising artist trying to make it in the art world, he is constantly learning the ropes, improving himself, and putting himself out there but my dear friend is discouraged.
Tayo is on the verge of giving up on drawing, he is frustrated and gradually losing it.
Tayo left Nigeria for Italy to further his education. He initially wanted to go to Canada but he wasn’t granted visa so he had to opt for Italy, he went to Italy without adequately learning Italian, so he is doing his best to learn the language, which has not been easy. In Italy, he feels nothing is working for him and as such he is gradually losing it.
Tayo’s frustration started when his Instagram account was permanently disabled, he had tons of followers on Instagram, that was where he got majority of his clients because he was constantly posting and engaging with his followers but all of a sudden his Instagram account got disabled and it felt like he had lost everything.
Tayo had to start from scratch, building his followers from scratch again felt like a never-ending hassle.
In Italy he tried to study the market there, balancing his studies and drawing has not been easy for this young man. He hasn’t gotten any client in ages and Tayo thinks the universe is against his art.
He does not know how to source for clients, just recently when he thought he stumbled on a good deal, it appeared the potential client was a fraudster and he almost got scammed in the process of negotiating with the client.
How do I advise my friend Tayo not to give up?
How do I advise him that life is in stages? How do I help him regain his lost confidence? How do I explain to Tayo that this is the price you pay to become great?
I keep praying that Tayo my friend gets back the fire that made him start drawing in the first place and gets his acts together.
I wish he understands how blessed his fingers are and that he has a rare gift.
This and many more I pray Tayo gets to understand before it is too late but until then I will continue to be a supportive friend and continue to push him.
It is not going to be a walk in the park but I pray sooner or later Tayo comes back with more fire and zeal but for now, fingers crossed.
I have encouraged Tayo to join Hive so he can meet his fellow artists on this blockchain.
As an artist how do you keep pushing when things gets tough? How do you manage your emotions during bad times so it does not affect your art?
I would love to get feedbacks on this in the comment section.
PS: All images in this post belongs to Tayo with his consent, to see more of his artworks you can check out his page
Thanks for stopping by
Loads of Love🥰🥰
XOXO
Tayo definitely need get some connections either on art academy, or other - local artists. He need support, honestly. What city he is living it? It is actually very important. To live as an artist, in country like that you have to have outgoing personality - or else - have a manager or mentor of some kind.
I imagine, that when he was moving to Italy he wasn't realizing it is basically the capital of art itself, it is one of the most competitive market in the Europe. It is as difficult as it is in France.
He need to visit museums, artisan markets, do good research to make sure his art is appealing to clients, because unfortunately, even being really talented mean nothing, if you don't follow current trends. What I know for sure - hyperrealism/ photorealism is not a top trend there at the moment.
I hope he will find his niche there, I do really.
Thank you so much @strega.azure we actually haven't looked at this from this perspective and honestly that is why I decided to make this post, to get feedbacks like this that would help him re-evaluate his art strategy and this your feedback is apt. I will relate everything you pointed out to him.
Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate😃
No problem at all, glad to help! It is admirable you are helping your dear friend.

Tayo is a blessed guy, I think he's close to his breakthrough, life is in stages and life isn't all sweet, so he should hold on and ignite the passion he had at first by going beyond the obstacle, he could sell his artwork too and maybe join hive. Hive is a beautiful space where he'd meet his fellow artists and beautiful people and even get connected eventually. He could use Twitter too to connect with another fellow artists, no he shouldn't give up, please. Send my love to him.

Thank you dear @ranjith98 😄
Wow... I was very shocked if you were the one that drew it and you never ever exploited that area but reading through, I discovered it all about Tayo.
It's not easy I must say, not even on hive but then it's all about persistency and doing what we know best doing.
I always tell myself, "I can't be unlucky all day" and continue trying.
Tayo can start here and continue his quest for good life, I believe it'll end in praise
Lol hell No!
Thank you so much dear @sperosamuel15 For your feedback, Tayo would hear about it.
Mind if I could borrow this mantra of yours?😃
Hehe.. I now know 😂
You can borrow it... You're asking like I am the owner 😂
Lol yeye boy😂
😂😂😂😂
Have a nice day jhoor
Lol okay boss
He should make a post referring to his previous page that was hacked or seized and get back majority if not a massive number higher than the previous. I went to his page and saw nothing like that. A twice-daily post will suffice as well. Well done dear👍🏽
I'd already read this but I'm glad #dreemport brought me back to read it again. Tayo is a wonderful artist and I know for him to be talked about this way by you, he must be more than spectacular. I wish i had a solution for him but all I can say is that he'll be successful, rest assured. His talent is real and full of soul. And you're a wonderful friend yourself @ibbtammy for trying to help him this way. Lots of ! luv 🌺🤗
aw, hellllllll no!!! 😹😜
from the "starving artists" to "crazy geniuses" and "eccentric rebel outsiders..." definitely not the easiest of paths to live a life completely outside the "norm," and comes with its own set of struggles & challenges.
coming from an outside-the-box perspective, just one of several in which there may be something to contemplate: did he solicit your advice? (rhetorical question to trigger something...)
you & i are complete strangers at this point, so i know nothing of your design and what you're here to do for who, though can see some potential patterns in the choice of language so offer the reflection in case it may be helpful;
as much as we may dearly want to "help" others we care for, offering words of encouragement to get them through their hard times... sometimes it is not always our place, no matter how good the intentions. sometimes people gotta go through their own hardships and lessons without being 'advised' or 'told' anything.
having been full-on into all things personal development, motivation, inspiration, hustle culture, etc during my twenties, i've been through and can see alot of these types of patterns where we may wanna be the cheerleader, coach, etc... when no one ever asked for it, and it was never actually our role to play. (at one extreme example of this would be the "savior complex")
situations like this can be tricky, as the mind searches for answers, potentially reaching outside of the boundaries it may not always belong in; like, maybe Tayo does not need anyone to be asking strangers their advice for what to tell him... but rather you just being there for him as a friend through the hard times, no perfect words necessary, but the energetic presence of your support. *or maybe some reverse psychology - telling him (sort of dramatically, obviously playing a character and not really meaning it) to quit what he loves, do something he hates for the rest of his life so he can be basic and miserable, to get the message across not through the words, but the reflection in the contrast... or just speak from the heart - without any attachment, completely honoring his every choice and what he has to go through without attempts at interference.
(I recall a story about someone dealing with a suicidal person… rather than telling them the usual, “don’t do it cuz xyz” stuff, they approached totally differently - asking how they’d do it, unattached, actually being supportive of whatever process the person was going through… and totally better results than the usual trying to talk someone out of it. Perhaps similar - not everyone wants or needs the cheerleader pushing them. But merely someone to listen without trying to force their own preferred outcomes.)
i hope that sorta sums up the essence of what felt needed to come across. take with a grain of salt if doesn't fit.
he's definitely got some talent... ⭐️
This was indeed an outside-the-box perspective, one that doesn’t just deal with this Tayo’s situation alone but life in general and yes I did contemplate on everything pointed out here, I read this comment over and again just to make sure I did not miss anything.
I will try to employ the reverse psychology method more and see how it plays out.
Thanks for taking your time to read and comment on my post😃
