I had a chance to go and cheer on some friends who are running both the 10K and a half marathon. While I wasn’t running myself, the atmosphere and energy in the air was very motivating!
Thankfully, my friends did well with no major injuries and accomplished their goals. Even though I’m not a particular fan of running, I’m now considering signing up for a future race.
There is something to be said about the social aspect of running clubs, or just gyms and exercise classes in general. They can be highly inspiring and push you beyond your comfort zone.

I love 5Ks but have not gone beyond that! Next time I am in Houston or if you come to Miami, I can bring you to my Life Time gym! It has been a great motivation to get me going again!
So I don't think I would ever do more than a 5k (maybe 10k). Running more than that consistently really takes a toll on your joints and I'd rather focus on doing my best 5k sprint than training for a marathon. Thanks for the offer on Lifetime, that would be fun!
It takes a lot to actually prepare to compete in a race, sometimes months or more than that, maybe I'm wrong, but the atmosphere feels good Indeed
In college I was on a track and field team doing 1,600 and 800 meter events. I was number one on my university team setting all time best scores in those events. One day we had a city wide marathon event and I decided to run 10k thinking that if I stay behind a group of guys doing a full marathon I would maintain a good pace and run a good 10k race. I was really wrong, at about 8k it felt like my legs gave out and I barely finished by walking :) I guess you have to train for things like this :)
Haha yeah training is definitely essential!
