Some weekends are for lazy mornings and hot coffee. This weekend, however, was for being knocked around by the raw power of nature. We hit the coast hoping to “blow the cobwebs away,” but let’s just say we underestimated how hard they’d blow.
With winds reaching a solid 7 Beaufort, even walking felt like resistance training. The sand whipped across the beach, the waves thundered against the shore, and the salty air stung in the best way. It wasn’t exactly the high-step-count weekend we’d envisioned—8000 steps barely scratched the surface—but it was a reminder that sometimes being still and observing nature’s power can feel just as fulfilling as a long hike.
As I stood there watching the wind churn the waves into chaos, I couldn’t help but feel a little humbled. We plan and schedule everything in our lives, but the elements? They remind us who’s really in charge.
Was it relaxing? Not in the conventional sense. But it was exhilarating, awe-inspiring, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones that catch you off guard.
