[POL] Parę dni temu, szukając ciekawych w miejsc w okolicy, trafiłem na informacje o Bois-du-Luc. Moją uwagę zwróciły charakterystyczne budynki osiedla górniczego z XIX wieku. Miałem tam jechać już wczoraj, ale nie wyszło, dziś wybrałem się tam na rowerową przejażdżkę. Miasteczko jest około 15 kilometrów od mojego domu i zaledwie 2 kilometry do kanału wzdłuż którego ostatnio często maszeruję. La Louvière jest bardzo specyficznym miastem, które powstało w drugiej połowie XIX wieku z niczego, jednakże z racji położenie w samym sercu belgijskiego zagłębia węglowego szybko stało się wiodącym industrialnym miastem regionu. W drugiej połowie XX wieku wraz z zamykaniem kolejnych kopalni znaczenie miasta osłabło. Architektonicznie nie zachwyca, dlatego też nie ciągnie mnie tam, ale okazuje się, że są pewne wyjątki.
[ENG] A few days ago, while looking for interesting places in the area, I found information about Bois-du-Luc. The characteristic buildings of a mining settlement from the 19th century caught my attention. I was supposed to go there yesterday but it did not happen, so today I went for a bicycle ride there. The town is about 15 kilometres from my house and only 2 kilometres from the canal, along which I often march recently. La Louvière is a very specific town, which was founded in the second half of the 19th century from scratch, but due to its location in the heart of the Belgian coal basin it quickly became the leading industrial town of the region. In the second half of the 20th century, with the closure of more and more mines, the importance of the town declined. Architecturally, it does not impress, which is why I am not attracted to it, but it turns out that there are some exceptions.
[POL] Bois-du-Luc to jedna z najstarszych kopalni w Belgii, znajdująca się w Houdeng-Aimeries, dzisiejszej gminie La Louvière, której działalność zakończyła się w 1973 roku. Osiedle robotnicze powstało w latach 1838 - 1853, wybudowano 162 domy robotnicze. Kwatery mają kształt trapezu podzielonego na cztery części przez dwie prostopadłe osie. Obiekt został zrekultywowany, dziewięć lat temu wraz z sąsiadującą kopalnią został wpisany na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa UNESCO.
[ENG] Bois-du-Luc is one of the oldest mines in Belgium, located in Houdeng-Aimeries, today's commune of La Louvière, which ceased operations in 1973. The workers' estate was built between 1838 and 1853, 162 workers' houses were built. The quarters have a trapezoidal shape divided into four parts by two perpendicular axes. The site has been rehabilitated and nine years ago it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with the neighbouring mine.
[POL] Do kopalni prowadzi bardzo charakterystyczne bramy gilotynowe, do głównej części gdzie obecnie mieści się muzeum są to dwie wieże, a po drugiej stronie dyrektorskiego domu, który stoi centralnie na wprost głównej osi osiedla robotniczego jest druga brama z jedną wieżą. Nieco dalej widoczne są hałdy przypominające od kopalnianych czasach z przed ponad pół wieku.
[ENG] There are very characteristic guillotine gates leading into the mine, to the main part where now the museum is located there are two towers, and on the other side of the director's house which stands centrally opposite the main axis of the workers' housing estate there is another gate with a single tower. A little further on you can see heaps reminiscent of mine times more than half a century ago.
