Blackbutt Creek orchids : November 11 2024

in Actifit9 days ago (edited)

Another late night - this time watching movies. Last one was Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant. Appealed to my humour. Woke with a stinking headache - could not shake that all day

The Brazilian walking lily popped out some more flowers - 3 in all

Get the photos in. They only flower one day

And the dancing lady orchid flowered too

Side on view - good to see this plant flower a second time since we moved last year. It likes its spot in the shade

Went walking down the hill - a few flowers along the way - interesting lily

Walked this road lots of times - never noticed this tree starting afresh after the original tree died away

Begonia flowering on the golf course - we had these at home as kids

View across the course to the Macquarie Park apartments

Got down to Blackbutt Creek - was a bit wary as they did a hazard reduction burn the week before. Good news is it was not this end - orchids showing - variegated hyacinth orchid. Good to find lots of plants

A few dyanella still going

Trackside view

Eucalyptus losing its bark - summer coming

Budding bonnet orchid. Saw a lot but no flowers yet

White flowers on a creeper - no idea what it is

Zoomed in - something is in focus

Did find an orchid flowering - large tongue orchid - cryptostylis subulata

Flower unfolding

Trigger flower

Hibbertia

White kunzea

Met a lady on the way back across the golf course - she was watching a bird - was able to identify a bower bird. First time sighting

This kookaburra is always around here - posing today

Dinner action - had asparagus we bought in Robertson - beef with black bean sauce and asparagus from Ken Hom

Stir fry beef which has been soaked in rice wine and soy sauce and black pepper. Set aside and then saute onion, garlic, capsicum and asparagus cut on the diagonal

A step on

Toss in the black bean sauce and a little water. No salt - black beans are salty enough

Add in the set aside beef and stir through

Serve with rice - was yum

A good way to remember - walk free - eat well - Lest We Forget

Wow, you are an Actifiter after my own heart! I can’t bring myself to upvote Actifit posts that have no substance. This one is amazing, with tons of great orchid pictures and a yummy recipe!

Does soaking the beef make it tender? I never seem to like Asian beef recipes when I cook them myself because the beef turns out tough. Maybe that’s the secret.

Thanks for the follow. I try every day to find some photos of interest - and a them often flows. And I do the 5k steps every day as a routine to stay healthy and aware. Been at it since Actifit started.

The soaking is in rice wine and a little soy sauce a d black paper - flavour is the key. It will tenderise too. I used eye fillet as we had a small piece left over from the weekend. That is the best solution - start tender. Rump works well too and is cheaper

I like the Brazilian lily flower
The multi color is amazing

very beautiful flower pictures
