no plans really but then the housemate wanted some food tonight. that gave me the perfect excuse to come out and walk the night.

so what is the plan? find food.
where to? the housemate said that we go to a grocery store.
which one? silence... so i suggested we go to the one near the sports center.
that was settled finally. turned on the "walk" exercise and went out. the nightwalker adventure continues.

it was quite weird walking at night with someone. i have always been alone walking at night, and i guess that will still be the norm.

the toden arakawa tram tracks were also very tempting so might as well just take a snap. that blue sky looked so good too.

passed by the old grocery store which was torn down. or so we thought. the building was still the same, but the name changed. i guess someone acquired the old brand and renamed, rebranded, or whatever it is they have done. it was still a grocery store and awfully looked familiar. the aisles were still the same.

there was this big poster at the front door though. the "red" definitely caught my attention. if it were gold, i would have been more happy. red for warning! it was a warning to shoplifters written in japanese, english, vietnamese, korean, and chinese. multilingual indeed! but having warnings like this in different languages makes you think that the place experienced a shoplifting incident and the perpetrator was any from these language users. am i just thinking worse? but it could also mean that aside from japanese and english speakers, japan or at least my city had many foreign residents from vietnam, korea, and china. whatever it is, having a warning translated in different languages does not sit well with me, it immediately makes you think that the wrongdoers were from one of those featured non-japanese languages. and did you notice those eyes? they were haunting, as if someone is always looking at you wherever you go and whatever you do inside this grocery store. oh well, the police meant business and was not playing to please my feelings, so i guess the warning made it's point.

aside from this, our city had "no smoking" signs on the pedestrian lanes and yes, these were also in the same set of languages as the above poster. what do you think of this move?

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

When the border between Czechoslovakia and Germany was opened, warning signs appeared in some German shops, suggesting that Czechoslovakians were bad people. I found it an unfortunate embarrassment for our nation.

I believe this is a problem worldwide. More precisely, it stems from a small group of people who cause trouble, yet we end up judging everyone based on their actions.

quite unfair to be generalized really. but i guess it is also human nature to self preserve. this is just very complicated

But did you get the groceries you were looking for? Hopefully so.

i did got what i needed but not in this store. this was just a side stop.
bought milk, bread, cheese for breakfast

Good, I hope you had a wonderful breakfast
