Hello Hive and Music Community !
July has only just begun and already I feel bombarded by a slew of comebacks in the k-pop world, from new discoveries to one of my most anticipated releases. Let's get started!
1) WJSN –Done
En esta ocasión estaré hablando de un b-side en lugar de la canción principal por que quede particularmente encantada con esta canción; no tengo mucho que decir “Done” es exactamente algo que podría escuchar una y otra vez. Amo como el concepto de WJSN ha ido evolucionando desde este estilo “mágico y movido” a uno más “maduro y seguro” siempre manteniendo este aire elegante y siento que esta canción les va perfecta a dicha evolución. “Done” me recuerda a una de las canciones de TWICE “Do What We Like” ambas elecciones musicales tienen estos aires como si fuera algo que algún DJ conocido produciría, quizás algo genéricas pero bien ejecutadas e inevitablemente agradables de escuchar.
Honestly, it's been crazy to see the musical evolution of bands that once made me fall in love with concepts and proposals totally opposite to what they usually release nowadays and that have only gotten better with the passing of time (The perfect exemplification of "aging like a good wine") WJSN (aka cosmic girls) is one of those cases.
This time I'll be talking about a b-side instead of the title track because I was particularly enchanted with this song; I don't have much to say "Done" is exactly something I could listen to over and over again. I love how WJSN's concept has been evolving from this "magical and moving" style to a more "mature and confident" one always keeping this elegant feel and I feel like this song suits them perfectly to that evolution. "Done" reminds me of one of TWICE's songs "Do What We Like" both musical choices have these airs as if it was something some well known DJ would produce, maybe somewhat generic but well executed and inevitably enjoyable to listen to.

2) WINNER –I Love U
No tengo mucho que decir, esta canción me recuerda bastante al kpop clásico que en algún momentos los boy groups decidieron dejar de hacer (Para lamento de mi corazón) es, en general, un lanzamiento divertido y burbujeante, tienes diferentes cosas ocurriendo a lo largo de la canción pero todo fluye realmente bien, la verdad disfruto esta dirección por la cual los grupos masculinos de Yg Ent han optado últimamente. Creo que si hay algo que cambiaría de esta canción es esa irritante línea “I love u” en el coro, no me malinterpreten, no es que no funcione, es en realidad muy llamativo y cautivante, pero la manera en la que esta ejecutada me pone de nervios.
Since I feel like I'm only talking about female groups, I feel obligated to include here a male group well known for some of their summer releases, WINNER.
I don't have much to say, this song reminds me a lot of the classic kpop that at some point the boy groups decided to stop doing (To my heart's regret) it is, overall, a fun and bubbly release, you have different things happening throughout the song but everything flows really well, I really enjoy this direction that the Yg Ent male groups have opted for lately. I think if there's one thing I would change about this song it's that irritating "I love u" line in the chorus, don't get me wrong, it's not that it doesn't work, it's actually very catchy and captivating, but the way it's executed just gets on my nerves.

3) aespa –Girls
Girls es una canción que golpea fuerte y que está llena de sonidos pesados, de cierta manera, asimilándose al estilo más “Girl Crush” y potente con el cual debutaron con la canción “Black Mamba”. El desempeño vocal de las miembros fue impecable como de costumbre, y aunque hubieron algunos segmentos del rap que no me terminaron de gustar del todo, realmente disfrute del verso de rap que siguió al coro en la primera parte de la canción. En general hay muchas partes impresionantes y llenas de potencial por separado en esta canción (el sonido que vino con el break dance fue alucinante y las partes vocales que lo siguieron también) pero que por alguna razón juntas me resulto… innecesariamente complicado. Lo cierto es que esta canción se me hizo interminable por alguna razón; a diferencia de “Black Mamba”, “Next Level” y “Savage” no logro encontrar algo que me aferre a esta canción y lograr repetirla una y otra vez, la composición por la que Girls apuesta simplemente no termina de ser de mis favoritas, aunque quizás pueda crecer en mi con el paso del tiempo.
After days of waiting with great expectations, and several pre-singles that raised such anticipation, aespa's second mini album "Girls" and its title track with the same name has finally been released.
Girls is a hard hitting song that is full of heavy sounds, in a way, assimilating to the more "Girl Crush" and powerful style with which they debuted with the song "Black Mamba". The vocal performance of the members was impeccable as usual, and although there were some segments of the rap that I didn't quite like, I really enjoyed the rap verse that followed the chorus in the first part of the song. Overall there are a lot of awesome parts and full of potential separately in this song (the sound that came with the break dance was amazing and the vocal parts that followed it as well) but for some reason together I found it... unnecessarily complicated. The truth is that this song became interminable for some reason; unlike "Black Mamba", "Next Level" and "Savage" I can't find something to hold on to this song and manage to repeat it over and over again, the composition Girls bets on just doesn't end up being one of my favorites, although maybe it can grow on me as time goes by.

4) H1-KEY– Run
Run fácilmente podría ser fácilmente la típica canción pop de verano que un grupo/solista diferente intenta lanzar cada año bajo un nuevo título que solía funcionar bastante bien en el mercado americano y los adolescentes solían amar por allá durante los 2000’s y poco después, pero que no por ello es de menor calidad o impacto. Lo cierto es que “Run” dejo una sensación agradable en mí luego de escucharla, se siente bastante alegre y divertida, el desempeño de sus integrantes fue sumamente carismático y hay una que otra parte entretenida insertada a lo largo de la canción, no hay nada nuevo ocurriendo aquí así que están lejos de ser algo innovador pero fácilmente podría ser de los mejores lanzamientos veraniegos de kpop este año (Su b-side “Heart Light” También es sorprendentemente bueno).
I didn't intend to talk about this band, but I felt like talking about not so well known bands on this occasion. The truth is that this is my first time listening to H1-KEY and I really got a good impression with their most recent release "Run".
Run could easily be the typical summer pop song that a different group/soloist tries to release every year under a new title that used to work quite well in the American market and teenagers used to love back in the 2000's and soon after, but that doesn't make it any less quality or impact. The truth is that "Run" left a pleasant feeling in me after listening to it, it feels quite cheerful and fun, the performance of its members was extremely charismatic and there is one or another entertaining part inserted along the song, there is nothing new happening here so they are far from being something innovative but it could easily be one of the best summer kpop releases this year (Their b-side "Heart Light" is also surprisingly good).

5) IRRIS– Wanna Know
“Wanna Know” Podría ser fácilmente el ejemplo perfecto de cómo las tendencias a veces hacen más daño que bien cuando se intenta aprovechar de estas, Wanna Know es una canción, en mi opinión, espectacular, hasta que llega el beatdrop que viene con el coro. Cuando comenzó la canción rápidamente fue creando una expectativa en mi que no duro tanto como me gustaría; el pre coro tiene esta “vibras” que parecen hipnotizar que me atraparon por completo, pero apenas tiene tiempo para llegar a todo su potencial pues es recortado repentinamente para llegar al estribillo, ahora esta parte de la canción tiene este sonido cada vez más y más usado que honestamente no se definir, a mis oídos parece sonar como un saxofón distorsionado y estruendoso (Similiar a lo que el solista Dawn uso en su canción “Stupid cool”) que los productores deberían aprender a usar sabiamente, ya que por ejemplo, en esta canción, me desconecto por completo de lo que venía escuchando. Puedo escuchar un montón de potencial en esta canción que no fue aprovechado.
Following the theme of groups perhaps not so well known, in this case we will talk about IRRIS and their debut (which is actually the re-debut of the group "REDSQUARE") with the song "Wanna Know".
"Wanna Know" It could easily be the perfect example of how trends sometimes do more harm than good when you try to take advantage of these, Wanna Know is a song, in my opinion, spectacular, until the beatdrop that comes with the chorus comes along. When the song started it quickly built up an anticipation in me that didn't last as long as I'd like it to; the pre-chorus has this "vibes" that seem to hypnotize that caught me completely, but it barely has time to reach its full potential as it is suddenly cut out to get to the chorus, now this part of the song has this more and more used sound that honestly I can't define, to my ears it seems to sound like a distorted and booming saxophone (Similar to what soloist Dawn used in her song "Stupid cool") that producers should learn to use wisely, because for example, in this song, I get completely disconnected from what I was listening to. I can hear a lot of potential in this song that wasn't tapped.

The truth is that this week has been full of a lot of releases(And there are still more to come in the next two weeks, like Itzy and Chungha), too much I would say, so I didn't know where to start and I skipped a song or two that really left a good impression on me so I feel a bit guilty.
