My relationship with music is one that has always been there but is only recently evolving into one of actually creating my own music. It's a form of creative expression that I couldn't fully indulge in due to lack of time, space and resources, as homesteading was taking up most of the time I had available.
My journey began with investing in a cheap telecaster knock off and an audio interface that came with free software to be able to record my amateur guitar skills. I've always enjoyed jamming on my own, with not enough musical knowledge or confidence to do so with other people. This simple set up, allowed me to experiment and layer tracks to create something that was uniquely mine.
The Process
This song started off by layering some chords and simple guitar licks with heavy layers of distortion as well.
This song really evolved when Shanti, an amazing musician and artist, was visiting the hills and living with me. She came up with spontaneous lyrics to add to this soundscape that was being created.
I then layered her vocals with different FX to get it to sound even better.
The whole song at a glace with drums, synths, bass and FX that I added myself as I was keen to create something original that didn't rely on loops or premade sounds.
This then went through some simple mixing with a basic understanding of EQ and compression to get it to sound as nice as possible. I'm still very new to music production and I know there's a lot of ground to cover to get better mixes, but I was pretty pleased with our efforts especially since I was such a novice.
Shanti even made some art inspired by the music we created together.

For a budding new musician, I was quite pleased with what we created. There's a lot of scope for improvement and I hope to only get better as I progress. I was initially scared to share my music because I thought it paled in comparison to the level of talent of most other musicians on here. Rather than thinking of it as bad however, I'm thinking of it as a snapshot in time of where I was in my musical journey and of where it can go from here. Thank you for being patient with me as I embark on my journey.

I liked it, enjoyed the voice, not so much the mechanical sound at about the 3:30 mark, It was just a tad harsh compared to the rest.
Thank you so much for listening, and your feedback. I didn't really have any idea how to mix and it wasn't mastered at all. Hopefully my journey with music production will continuously evolve, and this is a benchmark from where it will only get better.
If you have not seen any of @grapthar post it seems he uses a similar program and may be able or willing to help. I thought you had created a nice sound. It never hurts to ask people for help either all they can say is yes or no, it takes time to learn new things. Hope to hear more in the future.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll check him out. I have been learning through YouTube tutorials, and producers who share tips online. It feels a little bit like music is a language I'm learning to speak fluently and I'm so excited by being able to say something that sometimes the grammar gets lost. I've still noticed a lot of growth since I made this song six months ago. Hope you'll give it a listen when I post more of my musical journey.
I maintain a lot of list and have you on my music list and artist list. I have a lot of list because I have a lot of various interest and depending what I am interested in at the moment I can go and find something of interest. So I can pretty much say that Yes I will be seeing more of your post in the future if you continue to post.
Thank you for taking interest in my creative pursuits!

Soundcloud does not like me today, so I'm just going to assume it sounds nice ;D and either way reading its origin story and seeing the works in progress was also cool :)
Haha, well in all honestly it's a bit of a mess. I don't think anyone ever makes a masterpiece on their first try, do they? Perhaps some geniuses, but for us regular folk it's a journey. I'm still oddly proud of putting together something musical and it really helped that Shanti took it to the next level with her singing.
