RE: Jazz-Matinee – Silkroad Ensemble & Rhiannon Giddens🕯️🕯️🕯️

The St James Infirmary Blues is actually an old song from the British Isles that was only given new lyrics after it was adapted by the Americans. Originally, it was about a young man who went to a prostitute and later died of syphilis. As we would never do such a thing in the Balkans, the gypsies are out of the question.
It became a jazz classic through Louis Armstrong's interpretation.

I didn't discuss the song's content; I was more interested in the rhythm, melody, and instruments used. It's very similar to klezmer, the Jewish music from which all Balkan folk came afterward.
By the way, You get up very early, don't you? 😀

Every day between 4:00am and 4:30am, to be exact, because that's the only way I have the peace and quiet to put the lines on paper. After that, the rooster has already made it known that food is more important than ink.

Ugh... too early for me, that's almost in the middle of the night...anyway, maybe I'll follow you, who knows, I'll be retired at the end of the year :)
