One of the worst things is how they devalue so quickly, and become junk. Here in the West you can buy an expensive telly and then it's hard to sell as either most people have one or they don't have the money for an expensive one or they have too much money and wouldn't buy second hand. That goes for heaps of 'things'. So it's not as if consuming builds on your net riches. You're just hoarding STUFF.
The older I get, the more pointless I see the accumulation of ANYTHING is, except of course for immaterial things.
