I don’t know why I’m writing this to our photography lovers community, maybe because I feel here like home, but I will share my recent photos from my walk too:-)
Today we’re having an important meeting at our local school. Our school used to be great for years and classes were rather small, like 18-22 kids in class. Right after quarantine measures were lifted in fall 2020 in I think, the population started to grow and never stopped going up. This brings us a problem of overpopulated school. Now our classes have 30-33 kids and one poor teacher who instead of teaching them has to make sure kids are settled, clean the floor after their snack time, and so on.
Parents got tired of this problem and asked to organize a meeting to discuss this issue and see if together we can find a perfect solution. Also last year a lot of teachers have left and this year school is under staffed. This is so sad to think about. More new students keep coming every day, a lot of them are from Ukraine and Russia, the school keeps accepting them and that hurts both sides new comers and old students because no one is going to learn in this overcrowded conditions. They should’ve just made shifts for new students, make them come in the afternoon, but then teachers don’t want to work later in the afternoon. Instead they are offering middle schoolers another school which is not even in our area. We would have to drive our kids in that bad area school.
So being frustrated with all this, I got pictures in our parents chat of school cafeteria area with rats running around. People say there is not enough janitors to clean our school. Well first of all I think parents have to teach their kids to pick up whatever they drop on the floor, instead I know many kids purposefully litter. Secondly, in my childhood, we as kids used to take turns cleaning our classroom. I hated it but it made kids learn to respect their own work.
All this is just a tip of an iceberg, I didn’t get to the education part that I’m not happy about, the only thing I like about school is kids being able to socialize, that’s the only thing so far, and that is pretty sad. So wish us luck today at our parents/ school meeting that we’ll have enough wisdom to find a good solution to make our school better.
